    Amsoil Filter Question

What's the difference between the EAO51 filter and my old favorite, fits everything I own EAO57? Same WIX filter cross-references to both.

Amsoil ATF vs Toyota WS ATF

Got around to changing the ATF fluid in my daughter's '07 RAV4. It has a wonderful drain plug (and dipstick), once you get the plastic bottom cover off. Got the Toyota WS ATF at the Stealership. Only $3.48 a quart - a real bargain for these guys. Doing the unscientific 'how fast does it pour...

Fuel Power Poor at Cleaning Intake Valves?

I've been using the old FP on my 2000 Honda VFR (800cc/V4) engine. Previously using the old Amsoil PI as a maintenance dose, a look down the throttle bodies showed shining clean intake valve necks in the head. This spring, the inspection showed some really dirty, deposited intake valve stems. I...

BMW Full Synthetic 5W30 NOT API Certified

I got a new BMW Z4. I read and listened to all the BMW oil mis-information saying that only BMW Full Synthetic motor oil made by Castrol had to be used or the motor will immediately fail. So, I bought a case of the specified BMW oil (5W30) from the dealer at $5 a quart (seemed reasonable). Says...

    Ford - Be Consistent!!

I have a 2006 Mustang GT. Why does the V8 engine specify 5W20 yet the old-style 8.5" rear end specify 80W140 (not 75W90). I would argue that the rear gear has just as much potentual, or even more, to gain mileage with a lighter oil. Ford knows that the rear gear needs the heavier oil to be...

    What Ford says about 5W20!

I have a 2006 Ford Mustang GT (with the 4.6 V8). I was at the dealership to pick up some goodies, and the Regional Ford Rep and Factory Engineer were there examining an '05 GT whose motor apparently took a dump (spun a rod bearing). The owner admitted to running it hard (OK- normal) and using...

Worry Using Auto Rx in VVT Corolla

I just got a used 2002 Corolla for my daughter. 40K and clean. Not knowing the oil change history, I put in some Auto Rx when I changed the oil/filter. The variable valve timing mechanism uses oil pressure to operate, and it has a small filter in the oil supply to the actuator. I read that most...

Do we really want to use "SM" rated Oils?

Sounds like "Politicians buying your vote." How will these oils "help" my engine or be better? On Friday the American Petroleum Institute's Lubricants Committee met in telephone conference to discuss the results of its ballot on how and when to launch the new GF-4 and SM passenger car engine...

    need help picking an amsoil

SamMan23: Use the Amsoil 10W30 year round. Order it here from one of the Site Sponsors or directly from the Corporate Website (UPS in two days to my door!). A good product that will easily go 10K miles between changes. Mike

    Filter Weight Rating System

I went to the Wally World and purchased several ST oil filters for my Cavalier. These filters, at least by weight, seem to be heavy, have a thick base and gasket, and from what I can see, a pretty darn good filter for $1.98. I might even start using them on my Toyotas!!

    Peak Universal Anti-Freeze

Peak now has a "universal" anti-freeze that claims compatability with every type of fluid additive package (DexCool, conjugated organic acid packages and traditional high pH additive packages) (both import and domestic). Seems too good to be true!
