Oil in T-Case instead of ATF+4

Now that its outta warranty would it be better to use an syn-oil in the t-case? I don't see the need for friction modifiers and stuff like that in a...

    Run it full term?

I changed my Jeep 4.0L oil last Dec with M1HW10w30, I usually run it 4-5k miles but its now late Aug and still under that mileage by a few K. Should I run it full term or change it out?

Any benifits to using 40 over 20?

I have a 2009 Mazda 6 3.7L with 25k on it. The manual states use 5-20 but if its not available use xW-30 or xW-40. I can find plenty of 5w-20 but AA has M1 0w-40 and a filter for $29. I've heard a lot of good things about this weight.
