    MotorCraft Blend

The Mazda dealer used MC 5w-20 for my 2003 Mazda MPV every 5-6k miles from 0-106K miles without issue. You could clearly see the timing chain and sprocket through the oil cap and it was shining as can be at 106K before selling it to my brother. Not even a hint of sludge or buildup anywhere. He...

Don't use synthetic in a turbo car!

Just for reference: I have owned 7 GN/T-Types over the years and still have my original 87 GN from new now with 135K miles but MINT! The first 10 years and 100K miles the car was a 1/4 mile monster with many 10+ run nights. I have been using Castrol GTX 10w-30 since new with a Fram filter for...

    Mazda 6 oil change, 5w-20 or 5w-30

The Mazda dealer has been changing the oil in my wifes '03 MPV (same engine as Mazda6 V6) every 5-6K miles for the past 98K miles. The dealer uses Motorcraft 5w-20 and MC filter. Her van is the total soccermom van; started 10 times a day and never drives more than 10 mile each time. Looking into...

Purple Ice in a 99 TL, questions.

Just replace the coolant every 30K with the Honda-specific coolant and you will never have a coolant-related issue, ever.

    G05 vs. G12

As long as you do not mix G12 with G11 you are fine, don't worry about it.

Break in, Oil and New Honda Civic Si ADVICE PLEASE

No kidding... I remember reading a guy on this site did this to his (or fathers) Porsche Cayenne Turbo because this site said it was good. I think I replied that some people, for their own good, should not be surfing the internet. Imagine, taking recommendation from the unknown "Motoman" over...

Oil for hard driven SVT Cobra SC V8?

I can assure you that the SVT team know how people will drive this car when it gives it's oil recomendation and CAFE, as other will probably tell you, was not considered for the Cobra. Thicker is NOT better but that seems to be what people are being brainwashed to think here. The easier you can...

Pennzoil Platinum 10W30, 3500 miles, 05 Subaru Legacy GT

Why are you using a synthetic oil and then changing it at only 3300 miles?? $19.99 Jiffy Lube will give the same results.

Anybody denied warranty work for ext. OCI?

I worked for BMW for a few years and although I have never denied a warranty, I would have if there was no proof of oil changes within factory schedules. I can only think of two cases with a spun main bearing and I requested receipts and both people had them that showed the oil was changed under...

    5W-20 oil

I have been running Motorcraft 5w-20 with a Motorcraft oil filter in my wifes 2003 Mazda MPV for the past 32K miles and everything run great. The dealer does $16.95 oil changes with this, how can I refuse. The oil always seems so clean at the 5K OCI I do. I can still see the print on the dip stick.

Best oil formula for short trip driving?

I can say that the Motorcraft 5w-20(Mazda dealer oil changes) is working fine in my wifes 03 Mazda MPV through this REALLY hot Chicago weather. She is the poster-girl for soccer Mom; all short trips running around our suburban town and probably stops/starts the van 15 times a day. When I had the...

GC in slow reving truck motors = KaBang?

[/qb] Okay, but here is the question: is it really the formulation of GC that makes it different or is it the fact that it is an ACEA A3 rated oil with a higher HT/HS rate that makes for such good UOA's? In other words, how many UOA's of other synthetic A3 oils have we done in comparison to A1...

Porsche 924 Turbo - oil choice?

What made you go with the 924 Turbo instead of 944 Turbo? The 944 Turbo(951) has a stronger motor oil cooler (you upgraded to), ceramic coated valves, water cooled turbo and MUCH meaner look. Not to mention ABS and airbags just in case. I had a 1987 944 Turbo and it would chrip the tire in the...

Adventures of the $1 Fiero GT!!

Boy I wish I had know a long time ago that people would actually collect these cars. My frat brother gave me his Indy Fiero when we graduated because he didn't feel like paying to ship it back to California and definately wasn't going to drive it. This was 1992 and it had 140K niles and ran...

Seeking advice for oil in 2.3L turbo ford - driven HARD.

Don't worry about the car having dino oil and Fram in the past. My 87 Grand National has 120K and the first 100K was driven HARD including several 1/4 runs. I bought the car new in 1987 before college and had 3K mile oil changes at Jiffy Lube with Castrol GTX 10W-30 and Fram oil/air filters for...

oil Guru's- need help with weight of oil for jeep 4.7

I do not think you need an oil guru, the manual says 5w-30 for Non-HO and 10w-30 for 4.7HO. You will find plenty of people on the jeepunlimited board that run plain old dino xW-30 and do some serious offroading in the Arizona desert which means almost idling for hours with the A/C on high while...
