My caprice 254k mi,gets synthetic. Mileage difference is not noticeable. I do it because I tend to extend the oil changes and I'm more comfortable with the better ad packs offered in synthetics.

Awfully nice of you, most people(in the us anyway) would have driven right by without the slightest bit of concern for the potentially injured, let alone have any concern for the vehicle.

Looks like alot of work to clean, could be worth it if you like to cut your filter open to see what your engine is doing.

Valvoline Conv. 80w90 is dual rated, and Napa has a GL3/4/5 triple rated gear lube. Otherwise, Redline makes some nice gl4 products along the lines of mt85/90.
