How much is an AC service where ya"all are?

With 3 older vehicles (actually just 2 now, as we got rid of our '04 PT), I started doing my own A/C work lately. So I don't what shops are asking for A/C repairs. WIth my Caddy, I replaced some of the major components, and converted to R134 a few years back. Same with my pickup, but it had been...

    Safelite Windshield quality?

Just had a fixed back window installed by Safelite in my 92 Chevy pickup to replace the original sliding back glass. Once I got the truck home, I put it in my garage and carport while I was finishing up some work on the interior and installing a new stereo system. As I moved the truck outside to...

Tie Rod adjustment directions to Center Steering Wheel ?

Just did my steering components last summer on my 92 Chevy truck. All I did once everything was in, was run strings from the back wheels to the front wheels to get it lined up to drive/steer straight. I did test drives to check the steering to get things dialed in correctly.

Opinions on the Nissan Frontier Pro4x?

I was considering a Frontier a few months back to replace my aging 92 Chevy shortbed/standard cab. As 4wd isn't something I have a need for, the Desert Runner (w/locking rear axle) was the model I was most interested in (crew cab variant). The back seat on the crew was a little cramped though...

    Home Depot Sells Auto Parts

A search for a 1959 Gibson Les Paul guitar ( the Holy Grail of guitars) took me to Sears website once. It seams these sites put everything under the sun as part of their internet inventory.

Chevy Trucks Transmission Problems? 2017 And Newer

In my recent quest for a mid-size pickup, Colorado/Canyon were on top of the list until I discovered the transmission issues they were having.

Need info on modern shark fin style antennas

Thanks for the comments everyone. I've decided to just keep this old roof mount antenna in place, as it has double o-ring seals and has never leaked (I will be putting on new o-rings though).

Need info on modern shark fin style antennas

I removed the old antenna this evening, there is a sub-panel (roof reinforcement) just below the antenna hole. So, whatever I do, it's gonna be slightly cramped for wires. I may email Crutchfield and see if they have any suggestions. Thanks.

Need info on modern shark fin style antennas

I'm in the process of putting a new headliner in my '92 Chevy pickup. In the late 90s, a short mobile phone antenna was installed on the roof, which I now want to remove. I'm considering adding a modern style antenna, perhaps a shark fin type. At the moment, the antenna will not be hooked up to...

Engine Stop/Start Seems a Ludicrous Concept to Me Now that I've Driven It

Maybe this explains why so many people are rolling thru stop signs & running red-lights these days. "But officer, if I stopped, my engine would cut-off!"

    2019 Honda Ridgeline test drive.

Some of you seem a little confused. It was my understanding the truck had VCM, I asked the salesguy about the feature, and he said it didn't have it. He asked another co-worker who also said there was no VCM. I didn't buy the truck because I doubted them. Sounds like I did my homework. It's fine...

Engine Stop/Start Seems a Ludicrous Concept to Me Now that I've Driven It

I used a crude form of start/stop during the 1974 fuel crisis with my 1957 Chevrolet "150" 2-dr sedan. I would cut the engine off and shift the 3-speed manual (column) trans to neutral and coast up to stops signs, then put in gear just before coming to a complete stop and restart. It was hard...

Engine Stop/Start Seems a Ludicrous Concept to Me Now that I've Driven It

I love how the sales peeps at dealerships never bring this amazing feature up unless prodded about it. They usually dive right in about the touchscreen though.

Clear "protective" film on new vehicles.

Me and the Mrs went to check out another 4Runner yesterday. This one was white, which is our #2 color choice (red is #1w/beige interior). As soon as we saw the hood had the clear film, we told the salesman we were not interested. He went off like a firecracker telling me 99% of all new cars had...

    2019 Honda Ridgeline test drive.

Over and above VCM, I think the biggest factor in why I've been dragging my feet on the Ridgeline is the transverse engine and front wheel drive system (optional AWD). After 15 years of a PT, I'm just tired of that kind of lay out, plus the leaky axle seals. The Ridgeline certainly has more room...
