    Hastings racing filter

Hastings lists the LF140 as a racing version of the LF115, but I can't it doesn't say how or what makes it a "racing" filter. Anybody know?

Why is most High Mileage oil only partial synthetic?

I know that there are some newer high mileage oils that are full synthetics, but it looks like the majority of high mileage oils are only partially synthetic or a synthetic blend. Anybody know why this is?

    Opinions wanted

Just obtained a '96 Dodge Ram with the 5.9 gas engine from my father in law. He had it since new and it's got 227,500 miles. Used bulk Pennzoil all those miles and changes were done religiously. It doesn't burn or use any oil, doesn't smoke, even on cold start ups. My goal here is for it to last...

    AC Delco and Motorcraft

I just noticed the newer AC Delco motor oil bottles are the exact same as the Phillips 66 / Kendall bottles, just a different color. Same for the new Motorcraft bottles. I guess it is safe to say that both AC Delco and Motorcraft oils are made by Phillips 66 because of this? I don't know of...

    Rev X

Not sure if this is the right group to ask this in, but has anyone used RevX additive? Recently I starting hearing from some very knowledgeable guys that are swearing by it. It's expensive, to the tune of $32/4oz. I've put it into a 2011 Ford F150 3.5 ecoboost with 251,000k miles that makes a...

Buick Regal for my 16 yoa daughter

My daughter just turned 16 and I bought her a 2014 Buick Regal. I know many people my age have forgotten about the Regal, but I gotta tell ya'll it is an amazing car by anyone's standards. It has the 2.0 turbo engine which is surprisingly stout. Pulls hard through every gear and puts a big smile...

What's the most important # on oil specs?

When comparing specs on oil, what number should be most important? Or which spec (TBN, total viscosity, etc) matters the most as far as it being a great oil?

    New Phillips 66

Has anyone seen or used the "new" Phillips 66 oil? I think Phillips sells really well around here (North Texas), but all I've ever seen was their Trop Artic synthetic blend. Their new line is called Shield and a subname like "Valor" "Defense""Choice", etc...depending on synthetic, syn blend...

    Gulf motor oil?? Really?

Just got a Gulf gas station nearby, but I haven't seen one of those since the mid 80's when all the Gulf stations changed to Chevron stations. Anyway, did some googling and see that Gulf is back and they're offering motor oil again. Gulftec and Gulfpride. Anyone have any information on these...

    Penngrade1 ok for new engines?

I've always read that Penngrade1 is a great oil for older engines, but I'm trying to see if it is okay for newer engines (specifically GM's LS family). I know Penngrade1 has really high levels of Zinc and Phosphorus and I don't know if that means it should used for older engines only...

    Amalie Motor Oil

Amalie motor oil used to be very popular here in north Texas and was for many years. My grandfather and my dad ran everything on Amalie and now I've found it again, along with all the other Amalie oil products online at amaliestore.com . Shipping is free for purchases over $40, and it's cheaper...

    Cadillac canister oil filter

I just did the first oil (Mobil 1 5w30) and filter (AC/Delco) change on the Cadillac CTS I recently bought for my wife. Couldn't believe that the filter is a canister type. Just like really old vehicles used. Very strange to me, but it's got me wondering why GM went with this design. Is it to...

    Ethanol Free

I've been running some ethanol free gasoline from the Farm Co-Op here in town. I've been told it was better than the gas blended with ethanol for some reason. The brand is Cenex.

    GM Goodwrench motor oil

Does anyone know who makes this oil for GM? I've heard it is Mobil, which would make sense with GM's obvious association with Mobil 1, but this was just a rumor that I heard. GM doesn't seem to go to the trouble of putting the GM logo on the synthetic, just the conventional. GM dealerships just...

    Mobil 1 or Valvoline Synthetic

Coming up on the first oil change in my wife's new Cadillac. It's factory filled with Mobil 1 but I was considering using Valvoline Synthetic. No particular reason, other than I use Valvoline in everything else I own. Any suggestions?

    Griots Garage

I highly reommend Griots Garage products to everyone who cleans their own vehicle. From the car wash to the leather care, griots products are the very best. Their interior cleaner is by far the best prodcut for your interior. It's gentle enough to use on your leather but strong enough to get...
