    4Runner Ride Quality/Experience - always so stiff?

Own a '99 and used to own a '04 4runner until last year. Both are great vehicles for snow, rough terrain and are rock solid reliable but neither would be my choice for a long drive. It's still a truck at heart and drives like it. The trade off has always been worth it for us.

    Removing Oil Filter 2002 4Runner

If it's like my 99, and I think it is, I know what you mean. Total pita. After you get everything off you still have to get arms all scrunched up in there to even reach it. Then discovered you can reach it thru the left wheel well. Turn the wheel to gain access to the filter. Easy peasy. Bob's...

    Opinions, 2015 Jeep Patriot.

My daughter-in-law bought one new last year and I was concerned about Jeep reliability but as I recall was pleasantly surprised to learn it's rated by CR as one of the most reliable Jeeps they make. She had a TPMS warning light issue that corrected itself after awhile and other than that has had...

Thoughts on 1st Gen Mazda RX-7s

I had a new 82 GS and bought an 85 GSL-SE in the early 2000s. They were both great cars and very reliable. While the rotary engine is smooth, it has very little low end torque and needs to be revved aggressively to get the most out of it- that can be fun but you want to drive one to be sure you...

    Roofer issue (sorry long)

It would be implied in the contract of a new roof that it be watertight. That includes new flashing or working with the existing flashing ,if sound ,to give you a watertight seal that keeps all water on top of new metal and none beneath. They need to make this right , and probably will, before...

    Loaner vehicle mishap

LOL. This happened to me too a couple times when my daily driver way a stick and the wife's an automatic and we were going someplace in her car. It always in the imaginary 1st to 2nd shift so we hadn't built up too much speed when I did it. The "Whoa! Did you see that!" only worked the first time.

    1988 bmw 635csi?

We did own an 86 or 87 635csi for several years in the early 2000s. As noted above, rust can be a problem around the wheel wells and bottoms of front and rear fenders. The problems we had were little electrical gremlins to the multi-way power seats, a seized front brake caliper [ blame myself...

    BMW advice

As someone who's owned used BMWs I'd say go for it. That's a very good price and if you are able to do the routine things like brakes, oil and filter, trans fluid, plugs, wires and coolant changes yourself the cost of ownership isn't that bad unless something major breaks. My wife also thought...

    Kioti 3054 - Anyone?

Sorry I can't help with the Kioti. However when I was looking for a little smaller CUT tractor in the 23-25 hp range and was trying to decide between Deere and Kubota I found the folks over at Tractor By Net to be very helpful. They have 2 sections on each brand including Kioti. One on...

Disability Question About The So Called Review....

She needs to start with her doctor. The doctor has to agree she needs to stay on disability and fill out the appropriate paperwork. If her primary doctor agrees with this there should be no problem and she likely won't need a lawyer. If her primary doctor doesn't agree then unfortunately for her...

    New Honda Ridgeline rendering....

Funny how when the original Ridgeline came out I liked everything about them but couldn't get past how odd they looked from the side. Over time they grew on me and now I look at this new one and think it looks too vanilla. Think I'd rather get a used, old style one if I were in the market.

When did Hyundai/Kia become so expensive?

They tend to be have more features than comparably priced cars but I'm with you on this one. Once you get into the 40k-45k range for a SantaFe or Sorento I think there are better alternatives out there.

    Maxlife Dex/Merc instead of 3309 for a 05 Saab 9-5

I also agree 3309 and T-IV are the same. I've been using Maxlife in place of T-IV for years with no trouble in a '03 Tacoma and an '04 4runner both bought new. Does the Saab shift OK with Maxlife? If it does and it were my car, I'd leave it in there and call it a day.

    Screeching Window

Sounds like the outside rubber between the door and glass has gotten old and stiff and is grabbing the glass. When it's moist it gives enough slip to not make the noise. Try spraying silicone spray on the outside, inside and vertical door track rubber and rubbing it in. You could also wax the...

    Purolator use decreasing here?

I'm too cheap to not use my stash of Purolators but too bothered about poor quality control to buy them again.

how do you guys store gas?

I have a mix of 5 and 2 gallon cans collected over the years. I take them all in at once to be filled and "overdose" them with a little more than the recommended Stabil dose and sometimes add recommended dose of Seafoam or MMO if it's around. Also use them up/ rotate by putting in the car if...

    "TruFuel" worth it?

Tried it for the first time this year in a leaf blower and chain saw that are usually hard to start the first time each season even though both are always run dry before being put away. Both started right up with just a few pulls. Amazing. I'm sold. Expensive but worth it IMHO. If you can get it...

Bought 2014 Accord LX BLK/BLK With Good Price

Great price on a real nice car. I like the look of those new Accords. It looks like a much more expensive car inside and out.
