Oil recommendations for Toyota 4.7L V8?

Just yesterday, I bought a 2000 Toyota Landcruiser with the 4.7 V8 and 130K on the odometer. The vehicle looks new, and I am getting ready to change the oil since the dealer said they had not. My first thought is Pennzoil Platinum for its cleaning ability, but is the engine too old for a switch...

    No Mobil 1 filter available

About a month ago, the Mobil 1 website recommended an M1-108 oil filter for my 2011 Subaru Outback, I just checked again, and it only lists Fram Filters, no M! filters anywhere. The new blue Subaru filters are junk, now what do I do????

    5w-40 in a Subaru Outback

I have 6 quarts of redline 5w-40 oil from a previous Audi I used to own. I now own a 2011 Subaru Outback which specifies 5w-30 oil, but hate for the redline to go to waste. Thoughts?

    Ford V10 oil advice

I just bought a smallish RV with a Ford V10 under the hood. The oil filler cap states 5w-20 oil is recommended, however this seems pretty thin to me for such a hard working engine. I was thinking of going with Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30, any thoughts on this?

    2011 Subaru oil recommendation

Thanks for the great feedback, I appreciate it. No, I am not really old, just feel like it some days. 2) In between two Outbacks, I did own a Tribeca, but never really cared for it and it and sold it after about a year. I just don't know how to change my forum name. I plan to stick with the...

    2011 Subaru oil recommendation

My new outback has close to 1000 miles, and I plan to change the oil to get rid of any metal shavings that occurred during break in. In the past, I have been very particular as to what I put in my car, typically Redline but am wondering since there is no turbo to cook the oil, what else can I...

    Redline Vs. Syntec

Ok, now I have decided to go redline, and purchased a case of 5w-40 oil through OG Racing for a great price. I shot an email to Redline asking for gear oil recommendation, and to confirm my oil choice. Dave replied, but suggested 5w-30 would be best for my Audi not the required 5w-40. I sent him...

    Redline Vs. Syntec

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is RLI? I must have missed something along the way. Also, thanks for the recommendation on a good place to buy the stuff. I emailed Redline and Dave recommended 5w-30 (not sure why) and said wait until I have at least 1500 to 2000 miles before switching to...

    Redline Vs. Syntec

I emailed the dealership before I drop big bucks on oil I could not use. They said "You should be ok, the advisor said that the redline oil Is fine, as long as its full synthetic." I will save this email just in case and proceed with my plan.

    Redline Vs. Syntec

Thanks for the info. I am not surprised about the Castrol recommendation on the oil filler cap being just marketing. The dealership seemed unaware of the requirement when I asked what type of Castrol they use, and what I should use to top it off during engine break in. I have been topping it off...

    Redline Vs. Syntec

It is time to perform the 1000 mile oil change on my Audi A4 which came from the factory with a Castrol synthetic, which I am assuming is Syntec. I have never been a fan of Syntec, and am considering switching to Redline 5w-40, which I have used in the past. I want to help the engine remain...

    Recommendation For 2010 Audi A4 2.0

It is a "rare" 6 speed manual transmission. The dealer said very few are made, and fewer people want to buy them which makes me a little nervous for resale. I have always been a Subaru fan, but after driving my wife's A5, I was instantly sold. Thanks for all the input, I appreciate it!

    Recommendation For 2010 Audi A4 2.0

I have just shelled out a staggering amount of money for my dream car and want to make sure we have a long and happy relation. I am thinking of changing the oil at 1000 miles and again at the regular service interval. I would like to use redline oil to help avoid cooking the turbo bearings...

    Calling On Subaru Owners Please?

I believe so much in Subaru's, I bought stock in the company! I currently own a 08 Tribeca, but have owned several Outback models. My daughter just sold her 91 Subaru with 325,000 miles on the odometer and it was STILL running well, she just wanted a new one.

    2009 Subaru Forester / new / best oil & filter ?

Does the same pressure requirements apply to the Subaru 3.6L engine? I have been using mobil 1 filters for the last 2 oil changes, and sure don't want to ruin such a great engine.

the best synth oil is what

The arrogance displayed in this forum really amazes me. Not everyone is an oil pro, so cut us newbies some slack. We are here to learn, and put downs really hinder the education we all seek. It is easy to get confused, especially when manufacturers frequently advertise they are the best, so...

    08 Tribeca Recommendations

Thanks for the advice/opinions. I live in Colorado, where it can be -20 degrees in winter, and 100 degrees in Summer. I use my Tribeca as a daily driver, probably 20 miles of freeway driving each way with an occasional weekend trip to the mountains. My biggest concern is the abuse it received...

    08 Tribeca Recommendations

Greetings! I am new to this site, and am looking for advice on what synthetic oil would be best for my 2008 Subaru Tribeca which I purchased used with 35K on the odometer and know it was abused by the previous owner. I have read that the design of boxer engines really stresses oil, and that a...
