What are we using for chain lube?

What about dunking a chain in something like Slip Plate, graphite based dry film coating? Or perhaps Dri-slide, a moly dry film coating?

What are we using for chain lube?

What about these, do they qualify as high solids content, yet thin enough to penetrate to the pin and bushing? Sprayon Dry Moly Lube is a high solids, molybdenum disulfide coating that withstands high pressures. This product bonds to all clean surfaces that are not adversely affected by alcohol...

What are we using for chain lube?

Are the dry-film moly options really that limited? Perhaps the experts could point us to a wider range of product offerings that hit the mark. There seems to have been a lot said about what doesn't work, please tell us what does and that is readily available. Curious what the consistency of the...

Is race oil technology more simple than street oil

Is it just a mix of base stock, ZDDP and Moly along with the right viscosity for the application. Do detergents just get in the way becuase race engines get torn down regularly? How different really are the chemistries/performance of Redline, Joe Gibbs, M1 Racing, Royal Purple, Brad Penn in...

    Shell Racing Oil Patent

I didnt spend too much time trying to digest this file, but wouldnt friction and wear data be more interesting across similar grades. Eg a OW5 oil is not likely to perform the same as a 5W30. Some grades are designed for low temp operation like qualifying.

Oil for 4-stroke Quarter Midgets or Karting

I've heard that the niche karting oils have higher antifoamant additives given the rpm these little engines are operating as compared to their original design intent. Is there a way to determine the level of these type of additives in mass market oils vs niche oils?

Oil for 4-stroke Quarter Midgets or Karting

Just wanted to add some further thoughts/questions. The recommended oil for these engines from Honda is 10-30. Most folks are loosening up the cases and clearences to get them to run more free. One might say that would require a heavier oil for protection. Another argument is that a lighter oil...

Oil for 4-stroke Quarter Midgets or Karting

Some use castor based oils as well like Blendzall. Thoughts on this appreciated as well.

Oil for 4-stroke Quarter Midgets or Karting

Would welcome any thoughts on good oils and viscosity ranges for Quarter Midgets or Karting. Splash type 4-stroke engines, Honda GX-120s, GX 160s, Briggs Animals or World Formulas. Oils in use range from Mobil 1, Red Line, Briggs-Valvoline, Joe Gibbs, Brad Penn, PowerPlus, Red-E, Carmac etc...
