Detroit Truetrac in 2002 F-350 - viscosity question

Most 75w-140 will contain a limited slip additive. If you can find some that does not, go for it. Synthetic 80w-140 is also available and usually does not contain limited slip additive.

Detroit Truetrac in 2002 F-350 - viscosity question

80w90 mineral-based gear oil is what Easton has tested & verified to work well with their Truetrac differential. They also seem to have a strong stance on using an oil that does NOT contain additives for limited slip differentials. Do you use the truck in the winter? Tow heavy in the summer?

    Oil recommendations-SBC 383

I am surprised they ran it so lean. If they didn’t make any jetting changes after that pull I would plan on doing some tuning once you get it in the truck.

Intermittent Torque Converter Lock Up -1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ - AW4

The TC lockup clutch can get glazed when driven for a while without the hydraulic circuit working correctly. The more you drive it the better things should get. Also, I was vary of going from Dex III to VI in the 4L80E in my suburban, but I made the switch last summer and it works great. I...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

I decided to try Valvoline Restore and Protect in my 1997 Suburban, which has 202,000 miles on the original 5.7L engine. When I got this Suburban about 5 years ago the thermostat was stuck open, and based on a review of the service records (complaints of no heat) it had been like that for quite...

2020 Ford Expedition w/ 110,000 miles. Drained out Mystik 75-90 that had been in service since 36,000 miles. Oil was a dark golden color with very little metal on the magnets. If I had known it looked that good I would have left it in service. Refilled with more Mystik 75w-90.

Graduated from my MBA last Friday

I know how you feel. I finished my masters at age 40, it was a lot of work on top of a full time job and two active kids.

Amsoil 10w-30 Small Engine Oil noisier than SAE 30 in Briggs and Stratton

Check the valve lash. 10w-30 should be fine, but SAE 30W will definitely be considerably thicker when the engine is cold and may help keep things quiet.

Advice for removing an anode needed

considering the age of the water heater, I would not bother wrenching on it. Get a new water heater, and install a powdered anode rod right from the start.

Can I use Delo Syn ATF HD transmission oil in a 1990s 4L60E with PWM solonoids?

PDS says it is recommended for Dex III and Merc V applications. I would happily use it in a 4L60E.

    Kawasaki FR651-V Oil

As long as the cooling fins are clean, the operator will probably say "it's too hot to mow" before the engine will. Most of the oil viscosity charts in the engine owners manual go at least to 100F outdoor temperature.

    Kawasaki FR651-V Oil

You can still find Castrol HD30 in many stores. I used it a few times in my Kawi V-twin and it worked as well as anything else.

SAE 30 engine oil vs TO-4 in final drives

TO-4 would be my choice, for improved performance with the steering clutches as noted above. Pails of TO-4 should be readily available from your local oil distributor.

    Re-vamped my home network again

I have removed the two Aruba AP22s from my house, and also removed the 3rd from the garage. The Ruckus R750 nearly covers all of it, the only exception is a basement office that was previously served by the second AP22. This basement area has a large brick chimney and has always been a trouble...

    Re-vamped my home network again

The R750 is alive. Wow - this thing is putting a strong signal throughout my house. I set it up with a new SSID so I could switch back and forth with my existing setup. It appears that I may be able to get away with 1 or two less AP’s in the house.

    Re-vamped my home network again

The build quality seems really good. I am not familiar with the commands for the CLI, so I had to get some help from AI to get POE enabled for some of the ports. I just plugged the Ruckus R750 in and updated the firmware. I will play with it more in the next few days.

    Re-vamped my home network again

The plot thickens....I got my hands on a Ruckus R750 AP today. This weekend I am going to swap out my Aruba AP22 and see if I notice any difference in the "fringe" areas of our house.

    Re-vamped my home network again

I did a home networking project this weekend also. I got tired of having my fiber ONT and firewall in one area, my NAS in another, and 4 different switches scattered throughout the house. I got this 16U rack and a new old stock Brocade 48 port POE switch, wall mounted it in a seldom used area...

Cell phones - purchase vs monthly payments

As others have mentioned, often the phone promos come with a more expensive plan, which you are locked into for the financing duration. Much like a car, if you trade every year or two you are always eating the steepest part of the depreciation curve. You can buy open box or refurbished...
