    Mild roach infestation

You have to plug every crack in the wall and around the water pipes and electrical outlets. Otherwise using these bait products are just temporary.

    painting bathroom/kitchen cabinets?

My bathroom cabinets, which are wood stained with clearcoat, are 20+ years old and showing their age. The humidity of the bathroom really wears down the finish. I'd like to paint them. Do I need to do sand away the clearcoat, or can I just prime & paint? What paint is recommended for this...

    Ebay sellers bidding up items?

If it's from a bidder with very little feedback, it could be a bogus bid. For automobiles w/ no reserve, if you see a flurry of activity at the last minute, then yeah it's the seller who's bidding.

Cop called, tenent was growing a house full of pot

Another reason to not be a landlord. I know someone who had the same thing happen to them. The tenant modified the house to to grow pot. Electrical wiring was illegally modified to bypass the meter, which cost $2500 to fix. Walls had holes everywhere too

Approx. price for decent paint job

I've seen those $400 Maaco paint jobs. They just tape off the windows and trim then spray the car with paint. Really sloppy job. You can even see specks of dust embedded on the paint. For paint to be peeling off a 13 year old car, it must be in a pretty harsh climate. A $400 paint job will...

    Higher mileage European Cars?

You should look into a 2008-2009 BMW 3 series. They will go for high teens to low $20k with 40k miles. Since these cars have the free maintenance plan, they will have maintenance records and are more likely to be well kept mechanically. They're also pretty reliable as far as Euro cars go

    Replace battery or not?

Replace the battery now. You're lucky your battery is telling you to replace it. I never got such a warning; it just died one day and left me stranded in a parking lot. For this reason I now replace my batteries at 5-6 years, regardless.

Misreports of high used car prices

$5600 for an 8-year old car with 149k miles that was $15k new, *IS* high. In 2009 I sold an 8-year old car with 75k miles for $6000, and it was a better car than a Corolla LE. An 8-year old Corolla w/ 149k miles back then would have fetched $4000-4500. These used car prices are so high now...

what is a 3-gallon air compressor good for?

Looks like I have to get at leats 1.5 hp if I want to do something remotely useful? I liked the 3 gallon because it was light and portable. I don't want to lug some 25+ gallon monstrosity around the house just to nail baseboard.

what is a 3-gallon air compressor good for?

The 3 gallon compressor can probably run a nailer that requires 1 cfm right?

what is a 3-gallon air compressor good for?

I'm thinking of getting an entry level 3-gallon air compressor (0.6 scfm @ 90 psi). Just for occasional week DIY tasks. What type of tools could you run with this? Nailer? 3/8" Ratchet? 3" Cutoff saw? Reciprocating saw? Paint sprayer?

    Ugly $79,950 Chevelle!

Whether you like the car is irrelevant. What business does anyone have harrassing the seller because you don't like its price, especially when you know you won't buy the car in the first place? I don't like 99% of cars being sold, but I don't email the seller telling them how ****y their car...

New 54.5 MPG Fuel Economy Standards, Rd. 2

Are trucks & SUVs included in the 54mpg average? If so, there's not a chance they will meet this. Ford sells 600,000 F-150s per year. How many 75mpg cars would they have to sell to offset this? That 600,000 figure doesn't include their other trucks, SUVs or low-MPG luxury cars. Luxury makes like...

Tips on how to increase situps?

I'm surprised nobody suggested the obvious: Lose weight. All body-weight exercises are easier to do when you're lighter. You're making good progress. At this point I would do resistance sit-ups. Put a 25-45 lbs plate on your chest and do sit-ups. You will need to anchor your feet to do this though

    lithium battery cordless tools

Does anyone have experience with cordless garden tools that run on Li-ion batteries? Hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, etc. How powerful are they compared to low-end gas models? They go for about $150 (gas models are $225-250). I'm wondering which to get

Why old cars so expensive now

As others pointed out, US auto sales dropped off a cliff during the recession, so now there's a shortage of 3-4 year old used cars. It's not a recent thing; I've noticed inflated used car prices since late 2010 or early 2011. Cars of our era are just too reliable. Cars from the late 90s could...
