    Amsoil 0W-40: AZF vs. EFO

I'm trying to get a clearer understanding of the additive packages of Signature Series 0W-40 (AZF) and the European Car Formula 0W-40 Full SAPS (EFO). From what I can gather: Signature Series 0W-40 (AZF): Seems primarily focused on North American specs: API SP, GM dexos R, Chrysler MS-12633...

    MITSUBISHI Pajero 4M41 3.2 Litre Turbo Diesel (|Non DPF A3 B4 / C3 ? ) Australia

I believe the recommended oil for that particular application is a 5W-30 meeting either ACEA A5/B5 or A4/B4, which is a bit confusing when you take HTHS into consideration. For an API specification, I vaguely remember CF-4 being recommended. That said, if you do have a DPF, I would recommend...

Using 0w40 in a car that asks for 0w30?

Out of curiosity, where was the Castrol blended/bottled? Seeing "Gasoline" on an EU market product got me curious, when they usually label it "Petrol" instead.

Guess Ford understands marketing significantly more than me "Quilted French stitched Truffle leather"

Precisely my thoughts. Even when buying a premium brand, you're often just getting vinyl with some Fancy Schmancy name designed to dupe buyers into thinking they're getting something properly upmarket – like SensaTec on a BMW. As if it weren't enough that prices are through the roof and we're...

    Ravenol RCS 5W-40

I've been looking at some data I've kept in an old spreadsheet for different oils and noticed this one for Ravenol RCS 5W-40. I believe I found the VOA on Oil Club RU a while back. Flash Point °C (°F): 246 (475) Pour Point °C (°F): -57 (-71) cSt @ 40°C: 93.9 cSt @ 100°C: 15.03 Viscosity Index...

    ZF8HP50 fluid exchange frequency?

True. I have the 8HP45 in mine, which Jaguar claims is "sealed for life"; something BMW used to claim not that long ago. My problem is in the summer; a lot of stop and go traffic, which heats up the transmission fluid to anywhere between 104 - 108 °C (219 - 226°F). I also take it to the track...

    EBC Rotors/pads vs Akebono/Powerstop?

Agreed :) However, to add a bit more substance, the vehicle in question in my Mitsubishi SUV. With FF rated OE brake pads, the brakes left a lot to be desired and custom braided stainless steel brake hoses with the 3GD rotors and Yellowstuff pads were the solution to my problem.

    EBC Rotors/pads vs Akebono/Powerstop?

If you can get their 3GD Series slotted/dimpled rotors, that would be a good choice. I'm running them on 3 of my vehicles; while two of them have the Ultimax2 pads, one has Yellowstuff pads and that was a vast improvement over OE performance.

    ZF8HP50 fluid exchange frequency?

From what I've read, ZF recommends 50,000 - 75,000 mile intervals. For my ZF 8HP, I stick to 25,000 km (~16,000 mi) intervals due to heat and a lot of stop-and-go. Too frequent? Maybe, but I sleep better.

    Review: 2025 BMW 530i

While I understand sedans may not be the most popular choice for car buyers these days, I have a personal fondness for rear-wheel-drive sedans, especially the BMW 5 Series. So, for my latest automotive adventure, I decided to try something a bit different: the 2025 BMW 530i. I'll do my best...

This Former Jaguar Owner is Embarrassed

Certainly not a fan of the direction they're going in; I've never been a fan of mixing business and "politics" in any shape or form. It's a no-win situation no matter which way you look at it, considering you will always alienate once side of the isle. However, if they're considering moving...

Absolutely! I use compressed air once a week, but I got this nice, long brush that goes all the way down the drains that I use every couple of months.

    LS430 radiator made in China

We just replaced the radiator on a friend's '05 LS 430 in May. Despite the low mileage (35,000 miles), it had a minor crack on the lower tank. The part number I ordered from Amayama in Japan was 16400-50241 and it was made in Japan. Cost wise, it was $437 plus $182 shipping, making a grand...

    Updated M1 FS 0w-40 - More PAO

Not sure he'll be able to source that in the U.K. though. Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver is also a good alternative and has a decent amount of esters in it which could help, depending on seal material of course.
