Honda Fit 2013 M/T - First oil change and beyond..

So I got my first new car, been driving for 30+ years and was driving a 1985 Civic S for 18 years. I used to drive 12k miles a year easy but with a different job I am looking at only hitting 4k per year now. Short drives to and from work at 6 miles, 15 minutes, one way averaging 40MPH on back...

Which Honda OEM Filter is Best

I can choose between a MAHLE TENNEX 15400-RTA-003 or the FILTECH TOYO ROKI 15400-PLM-A01. The Mahle unit is what I understand the Honda Fit comes with from Japan. Any comments about these 2?

    Newbie question on Formula Shell

6000 is probably too far on most dino oil. Motorcraft and Havoline/Chevron are better options and are safe to 4k unless the miles are all highway, then maybe to 5k.

    Honda CBR600F-3 on Mobil 1MX4T 10-40

This bike has super low miles for a 1997 due to working 6 days a week. Total miles at the end of the interval was 4048. It was in the bike for 8.5 months and had 1703 miles on it. This is the non-SS version of Mobil's bike oil. Of course it was used very intermittently, but when it was used it...

    Bob...131 question

Have not seen it posted so... I have some 131 coming from Tim, great guy, and I'd like to know when to add to the fuel tank. On a low tank then add the fuel or should we fill it up and then add the 131? Also is it safe to use in the sump of a wet clutch motorcycle?

    Supersyn esterless?

Has this question been resolved here and I missed it? Now the Motorcycle Mobil 1 is going to Supersyn. If this new stuff does not contain the esters of the old formula then should I buy some of the old formula? I hope the price will drop too but I suspect it will stay the same or increase...

    GTX separation?

Just changed the oil and I see a dark substance stuck to the bottom of the container in all 4 bottles. What is this stuff...moly, an additive? Do I want to drain this into my motor? And if I do will it settle to the bottom of my motor?

    which oil

From what I have read the regular Belray is good but the Castrol for bikes, Activo I think, would be something I would try.

Idle went up 200 rpm after oil change

I changed the oil in my Honda 600F-3 and idle went from 1000 to 1200 rpm. The bike always idled, fully warm, at 1000 with the lovely Honda 10-40 GN-4 oil. Now using my cheap stash of Mobil 1 for bikes, also in 10-40. Anyone care to comment on why this occured? No other, I repeat, no other...

Deteriorating filters+ Oil By Pass Valve

Just opened a bunch of filters and really did not find much until I opened a Purilator that had been on my mother-in-laws car for a bit over a year. When I tried to see between the paper pleats the paper just fell off! The paper was done, so I surmised that time got this filter, about 4000...

    JASO-MA

Is the JASO-MA needed for Jap./shared sump bikes? Reading seems to indicate this designation means the oil is compatable with a wet clutch and is something to look for. I know Mobil and Amsoil for motorcycles have this desig. what are some others?

Info on Schaeffers 306 Micron Moly

Seems to be an overlooked standard dino oil. Any analysis or additional user info on this oil? Group 2, moly but how much on average for a quart? Let's hear some comments! [ November 23, 2002, 05:38 PM: Message edited by: Chris ]

Do additives settle to the bottom?

Read somewhere on the web someone saying that they believed that the oil additives settle to the bottom of containers so he stored his bottles by the case up side down!? Also said that the additives in the bulk, 55 gallon drums, would settle to the bottom so depending on your luck you may not be...

    Do synthetics cling to parts?

It seems one of the touted benefits of real synthetic oil is that it is polar and adhears to the engine parts. Do I have this correct and is this desireable?

    Is 5-30 needed?

Been reading for a while and the concensus seems to be to use 10-30 instead. Is the 5-30 just for the manufactures to meet tougher gas mileage requirements? The service manager at Saturn cautioned me against using 10-30 because he said the timing chain had small holes leading to it and they have...

    Saturn rings stuck

It is the classic Saturn oil drinker. 1 quart per 1k. Have done one treatment of Auto-rx and am 1500 mile into the dino oil after. I have another dose coming, is there anything special to do, other than the regular directions, to get these rings loose? The first dose did give the car more...

    Motorcycle oil

I see that Valvoline now has a motorcycle oil. Must be a conventional since it does not mention the word synthetic. I still think the Mobil 1 is the best but glad there is another choice.

    Air filters!

Have been looking for info on air filter for a while but have no found much. In paper air filters I only seem to find alot of Frams. I know their oil filters are a joke but what about their air filters? What should we be seeking out?

    Oil filter cutter

Since auto-rx puts the junk in the filter we all need a good quality, low cost opener. Anyone have any suggestions? A hacksaw is a poor solution because of the time, shavings created, and danger to your fingers. What about a large pipe cutter? Cheaper and better?
