Detail and Wax - Top Picks and Favorites Of Members On BITOG

Has anyone tried Lucas Slick Mist? A local dealer just started handling it.

    After Collinite

I found 845 about 10 years ago and wondered where it was all those years. One of the easiest-to-use, longest lasting waxes I've ever used (and I'm 72 now). I'll stay with it to wax my ride thanks.

Made in Canada - Gray tools

When I worked in the Gas Fitter trade, my whole box was Gray tools bought from a local supplier. The only thing I didn't like was their ratchets which tended to be very coarse and unrefined. But their tools are tough and have a lifetime warranty. Most are not as pretty as Snap-on, but a lot less...

Post your latest small engine oil change

Changed the oil and all filters in my Generac genset, my Chinese diesel, and my trusty old Honda snow blower. All got a dose of Mobil 1 10W30 like always.

    Synthetic goodness

Campbell-Hausfeld just responded to me that any small compressor made by them can use Mobil 1 10W30.

    Synthetic goodness

Well, I guess Google is your friend, though the answers given are all very vague and look like they're written by compressor oil salesmen. Basically it looks like compressor oil is old cheap detergentless oil. Anyhoo, seeing the difference in my compressor's performance, it's Mobil 1 for me...

    Synthetic goodness

Yeah, I'd have to see proof of that statement. There's just nothing in a compressor that would "defile" the oil. It's simply the bottom end of an engine with no top end contaminants.

Problems After Adding 2 Stroke To Diesel

FWIW, I've been adding 3 ounces of 2-stroke to 6 gallons of fuel for 15 years now in a modified 2-liter VW Rabbit Pickup. Zero fuel related problems. I have occasionally used ATF also with no issues.

    Generac brand motor oil?

I've had a 7500w Generac for about 10 years now and it always gets Mobil 1, 10-30. There is literally no visible engine wear.

    Synthetic goodness

Yeah, compressor oil doesn't need to deal with products of combustion, so it is a cheaper (less additives) oil. M1 for me from now on !

LED Bulbs in Factory Reflector Housings Designed for Halogen

This certainly is a problem with the new Fords. At the place where I work, we have a large fleet (140+) of Ford Super-Duty 350s and 450s. We have changed them all over to LED headlights and are VERY pleased with the results. Just be sure to get ones that are Canbus compliant and all will be well.

I have this small oil-in compressor that I use for small tools, tire inflation, etc. I got a real deal on it------for a reason. Since I bought it 5 years ago, it's a great summertime compressor, but has never started without preheating in my unheated garage, in the winter. Last summer, looking...

    Early Triumph oils

Got this response from Redline today. Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, in your Triumph motorcycle the 10W40 Motorcycle oil would be recommended in the engine, the V-Twin Primary Case Oil in the primary also packaged as MTL and the V-Twin Transmission Oil in the transmission also packaged...

    Early Triumph oils

My 1956 Triumph TRW requires straight weight SAE 20 for the primary chaincase and SAE 50 for the transmission. I cannot find straight weight oils anywhere in my little town. Has anyone used multiweight oils in these applications with any success?

    Brake slider pin lube ?

Yes, I do live in the salt belt, and my last brake job on my summertime daily VW Rabbit Pickup was 13 years ago. I have also wondered about the Mobil 1 synthetic chassis grease (pink) ?

    Brake slider pin lube ?

What are you all using to lube the slider pins on disc brake calipers. I know never-seize dries out, as does the silicon slider grease. What is best ?

    best mower deck undercoating

For over 10 years now I have followed this regimen. I run a new mower for a year with no coating. Then, during the winter, a good cleaning and scuff off any residual rust. Then 3 coats of truck bedliner. You'll never have to touch it again.
