    Cheapest small truck/SUV diesel swap?

Seems like it might not be too bad with a Nissan Xterra or Frontier, they already come with the diesel powertrain overseas that using the same mounting points, would have to work through some electronic issues I am sure though. Surely the Tacoma has a diesel engine overseas?

    How sturdy are Rhino Ramps???

I've been using ramps for years and never gave it a second thought. Mine are also stored in doors so I don't have to worry too much about UV damage. Next time I am going to place a couple of jackstands as an added safety measure.

Shudder at idle - 03 Expedition

So i did two things and I'm not sure which one helped or not. The shudder is gone. I did a drain and fill last year, but i believe some DexIII/Merc made its way in with the Mercon V. I added some Lubeguard Red. I also ran a bottle of Techron through the last tank. I'll be doing another drain and...

    Best mpg of the year!

I've always had a much easier time exceeding the EPA estimates on my 4cyl vehicles than I have in my v8's or v6 vehicles. Not sure why, but for me its been easier to get an increase in my 4cyls. My civic was a no brainier for 34-36mpg without trying. When I really started trying, over 40 was do...

    5.4 with varnish build up

Keep us posted. I would love to run the Redline as well, but $10 a quart just hurts.

    5.4 with varnish build up

I've got a decent amount of varnish my my 2v 5.4 and when I went into my 2v 4.6 Mustang, everything was very clean but very varnished. I'm currently running PU in the 5.4 to see if I can make any progress on getting rid of the varnish. It appears that it has cleaned the end of the dipstick a...

Shudder at idle - 03 Expedition

It only does it in gear. If I go to neutral or park, there is no shudder. That doesn't necessarily mean the trans but that is what had me thinking that it might be. Although it could be the load against the motor causing the vibration/shudder. The tach holds rock steady though, which makes me...

Shudder at idle - 03 Expedition

Car has ~105,000. Had the plugs replaced recently. Have to check my records, but it was within the last 10k. Also replaced a bad coil and all the boots as well just in case. When I fill it up I always use Chevron or Texaco gas but who knows what the wife puts in there when I don't do it. Caught...

Shudder at idle - 03 Expedition

Today we took the Expedition on a day trip out of state. After am uneventful drive there and almost back we stopped at a gas station for a pit stop. After driving a little over 100 miles between 65-75 continuous we pulled off the interstate and came to a red light. Immediately the car had what...

    Group II/II+ vs Group III

Also, I don't recall the exact required content, if any, of synthetic oil that a blend must have to be designated a "synthetic blend." I thought that it might have to be 30%, but it could be lower. I would suspect that some of the dino oils that we have on the shelf today could potentially have...

    Group II/II+ vs Group III

I also read a few documents that I could find on the subject and the only specs I saw stated: Group II VI 80-120 Saturates >90% Sulfur Group III VI >120 Saturates >90% Sulfur And that an oil could be considered Group II= if it was 113-120 VI. Some of the other stuff that I read indicated...

    Group II/II+ vs Group III

Just a disclaimer.... Not trying to start a debate about which one is better. Just legitimately looking for the main differences between the two. I know that the VI of the base stock is a major part of it, but I am curious as to what the requirements (if any) are for impurities are between II...

    Group II/II+ vs Group III

Just looking for some info on Group II and II+ oils vs Group II. I know that there is a VI difference on II and III with III having to be, I believe, 120 or great VI base stock; group II being less than 120 VI. Are the impurity levels, sulfur, ash, etc. the same between the two. I know that in...

    Record oil profits

It would seem like there are several other factors that contribute to the high gas prices that we all have to pay. Some of these reasons have absolutely nothing to do with the oil companies themselves. Value of the US dollar Speculators Government restriction of domestic oil production Two of...

    Chevron/Havoline Multi Vehicle ATF

Found it through a distributor as well. None of the local retailers have any on the shelf.

    Chevron/Havoline Multi Vehicle ATF

Does anyone know much about it? I haven't read much about it, but it looks decent on paper and suitable for many applications. Thinking of picking some up.
