Delta kitchen faucet - low flow issue

If you do replace the faucet assembly, suggest you buy it at a plumbing store. Costs a bit more than at the big box stores, but it seems the apparently identical assemblies aren't actually the same.

    Didn't buy new car

I had the same problem with my Accord. I took it out one night and couldn't see a thing. I think the bulbs had just gotten old. Replaced those old standard bulbs with high intensity bulbs and wow, what a difference. That upgrade didn't cost $1600 (which would be $3200 for both sides). We have...

    Didn't buy new car

Lots of discussion on the internet about the complication of new vehicles. There is at least some truth to it. Components now tend to require replacement rather than being repaired, a simple bulb change, etc. Have you priced the cost of replacing a tail light? (Often, you can't just replace a...

"In the unlikely event of a water landing"

Me too. There are situations where knowing which way it is and how many rows to the exit could save your butt. And what about hand luggage? It's remarkable how many people you see after use of the emergency slide who are wandering around with their hand luggage. That's just what everyone needs...

retirement party; 35 years at the same job

I had a great job (good boss, good pay, very interesting work that I was good at) and could have afforded to retire at 55. But I was in good health and really liked what I was doing. I eventually retired at 66 1/2 while everything was going great but I felt I was losing my intensity. I had...

retirement party; 35 years at the same job

My sister in law has completed 50 years at the same medical office. Started there right after secretarial school and never left. The office manager retired shortly after she started and she became the office manager of what is now a very large practice. And she's still working there. Amazing.

German company making parts to improve looks of model 3

The front end of the original Model 3s is kind of homely. The rest of the car is quite attractive. I know a number of Tesla owners but I don't think any of them would spend $1,500 - $2,000 on a body kit purely to improve the appearance of their vehicle. Tesla itself could do a bit more work on...

German company making parts to improve looks of model 3

The front bumper is quite attractive. Pretty expensive though (about $1500 plus freight, installation, and painting). I wondered when someone would come out with a nicer front bumper. The stripes and rear wing are too "boy racer" for me.

Do you sometimes randomly pick up trash?

Like fixing broken windows, I suspect picking up any trash makes a neighbourhood safer. I think there is evidence for the broken windows thing, but I don't have evidence for picking up trash, just a suspicion. Something to do with being a tidy and well maintained area vs "nobody cares anyway"...

Do you sometimes randomly pick up trash?

We have a beach quite near our home. We go down there every couple of months and as I'm walking, I pick up anything that shouldn't be there naturally. Lots of foam insulation, plastic bottles, etc. I don't pick up plywood bits but maybe I should.

Do you sometimes randomly pick up trash?

When I move into a new neighbourhood I walk the streets for the first couple of weeks and pick up nails and screws. For the first couple of days I come home with a handful. After a week or so I've found them all. I consider it a public service - but good for me too.

While sleeping felt like getting smacked in the lip have 2 small black puncture wounds on lip.

I apparently get bitten by spiders quite regularly when I work in the garden (twice in the last week). I get a sore red welt that increases in size (to about the size of a dime) over a week or so which then eventually fades. Seems spiders like me, or possibly don't like me. I say "apparently"...

    Repair John Boos cutting board

We have an 18 X 25 X 1.5" maple chopping block. We've had it for over 40 years and it has never cracked. We keep it on the counter where it is in constant use. It bows slightly over time (up at both ends) so we turn it over. It straightens, then bows the other way. Obviously it has no feet. We...

    Repair John Boos cutting board

I think you should maintain both sides. That would help keep it from warping.

Bought my son’s first car: 2008 Toyota Solara

We had a 2000 Solara SL V6, 5 MT. Very good riding car with a huge back seat. Completely trouble free during our service. Gave it to our daughter who eventually sold it in favour of a Mazda minivan when she had kids (which also had a manual transmission).

bacon grease used as engine oil

Yes they did. My dad (who would be 124 years old if still alive) talked about using leather for a bearing insert. I don't know if that was a way to get by until parts arrived, or "we have to get to town somehow", or a "no money for parts" solution.

Another Manual Transmission off the road.. My 2007 Mazda 3 on Copart

My Accord is a conventional V6. There are some advantages to older products. I recently replaced the valve cover gaskets and adjusted the valve lash. At 190,000 km (120,000 miles) the exhaust valves were just a little tight. Not very tight, but out of spec. A too tight exhaust valve took out...

Another Manual Transmission off the road.. My 2007 Mazda 3 on Copart

I have a 2007 Accord 4Dr V6 6MT. It's a rare car and I bought it new. The manual was the same price as the auto but I preferred the manual. My friend who had a business refurbishing and selling used cars calls the Accord 4Dr V6 6MT Honda's "Holy Grail". Someone on "Bob" recently put 1,000,000...

I think the economy needs a recession

Doctors often have an unrealistic idea of the value of their practice. I bought a practice (address, phone number, lease, leasehold improvements, minor surgical and examination room equipment, and patient files) for $10,000 in 1979. I sold half to a new partner in 1980 for $5,000. When I left...

I think the economy needs a recession

Many decades ago, when I was in high school, one of my classmates said our future was bright. Automation was going to do all the work in the future and we'd just enjoy ourselves, with plenty of leisure time. It didn't quite work out that way. Many jobs disappeared but the people who had been...
