Under the valve cover 2005 Buick 3800.

Did the valve cover gaskets on the Buick today, 152,000. Still runs so good. Here you go. Car has had a steady diet of conventional 5W-30 since new. 4000-to-5000-mile oil changes. I have Valvoline in it right now.

Factory pf-63 and M1-M107A cut open

PF-63 from the 2024 6.6 GM with 1200 miles 107A from 2000 ws6. Both low miles. WS6 changed due to fuel dilution because of failed injector #7. Truck...well you know..."break in" oil Ws6 Truck

    2023 1.5/CVT Malibu Rental car.

This one had 17,000 miles on it. Was comfortable with heated seats. Pretty tight overall. Tight steering. No rattles, which surprised me, rental in New England. I put at about 400 miles on it. Some of those were two trips from Boston Logan to Newport RI. about an hour and half. Really good...

    Rental review, 2023 F-150.

On travel for work again. We received a fully loaded F-150. 26,000 miles. Some hail damage. 5.0 was nice. Plenty of power. Transmission shifted very nice. Looked, according to the computer lifetime mpgs were over 16 mpg. Fully loaded interior was comfortable, power everything. To include memory...

Tell me about Mazda, maybe the CX 30

So my daughter will be driving soon and we'll the wife and I think she needs some nanny features the Buick just does not have. So we have floated the idea of giving her the Malibu and getting the wife something lightly used. I am going to give the Buick to someone who needs a car if we go this...

Griots all in one ceramic wax

Washed and waxed the truck and Caprice today. I REALLY like this wax. Worked awesome on the 2003 Duramax too! Has been my favorite wax to use in years!

    First tow in the truck.

WAY BETTER than expected. It really destroys the old 1 ton. That 10 speed is phenomenal. The 6.6 is more than adequate for the trailers I tow. It was only about 50 miles round trip but there are two good sized hills. Where the old truck might see 3800 to 4000 RPM on those hills to go 60, this...

    Stupid question about oil

So the Caprice has an 8 quart sump. I have 7 quarts of Mobil 1 5W-30. I don't want to open the other 5 quart container I have that is for the Malibu... Who among the fine folks at BITOG would throw a quart of Castrol 10W-30 conventional in there? I think I am going to do it.

Rental Car review 22 Jeep Compass

So I will say this one has 42,000 miles on it and lives in New England I have had a lot of rentals this year. A Colorado, Mustang, Escape, Camary, Sportage, a few Cadillacs and a Jetta. This thing makes me miss my 2002 Jetta TDi. Most here know how I felt about that. The worst rental I have had...

Got the new truck home and actual payout.

Well it didn't hurt too bad, but more than I wanted it to. It really is a nice vehicle. Quiet. Plenty of power and rides very nice. I think it will be great for towing. It can tow 16,000lbs. My heaviest trailer is 8000. 401HP and 464 ftl/lbs of torque. No DOD/AFM, no start stop. I like that...

    Truck update

Well over two weeks and the estimate is currently over $25,000 to fix it. This body shop told USAA it is fixable. I said well I don't want it fixed over 2 hours from home. USAA that is fine, it is the law that you get to pick your own shop. Problem is the best body shops 10 to 30 minutes from me...

    Frame replacement

So the way truck prices are right now USAA will repair a truck up to 100 percent of the claimed value. My trade in value is anywhere from 38,000 to 42,000 dollars. As you all know here I do all my own stuff. Body shop is at about 23,000 for repairs. That includes an ENTIRE frame swap, they say...

Made it home in one piece after trip.

Used the kids 222,700 mile 3/4 ton Duramax. Thing was flawless. It is different than the gasser. My gasser is 360hp and 380ft/lbs of torque. I had it turned so maybe picked up 20hp and 30ft/ lbs of torque. That is the average. The Duramax is 300hp and 500ft/lbs of torque. They pull about the...

    My poor truck

Someone pulled out in front of me, no insurance no registration wrong title...truck was paid for with 2017 with 47,000 miles. Picked up in 19 for 36500 with 27,000 miles. I can't replace it for that. 100 miles from, trailer was at the campsite. Son brought his 03 Duramax to tow me home Monday...

    Kids new truck.

Kid wrecked his truck about 5 months ago. I won't get into details here. No one was hurt but him, his pride and one very clean GMT400. I will say he was by himself no drugs or alcohol, just the over confidence of being 17. I am pretty sure he learned his lesson. I am just happy to have him...

AVIS 2019 Mustang GT rental review.

After I was finished with work, I spent some time on the east coast to catch up with family and friends. I ended up getting a 2019 Mustang GT with 39,000 miles on it. Very comfortable, heated and cooled seats. Never felt tired driving it. Android auto worked well. Paddle shifters were nice. Had...

    AVIS 2020 Kia Sorento review

Had some travel for work this past week to Philly. They gave us a 2020 Kia Sorento. It was ok, nothing particularly special about it. Did what is was supposed to do. Was a loud car, and very slow. My two biggest complaints. It did get decent gas mileage in the city. Was very floaty on the...

    First repair on the Malibu.

Just hit 90,000 miles. Did an oil change and notice a bolt head laying on a spot on the engine block. Son of .... Broken exhaust manifold bolt. I thought it was odd as it does not seem to be common on the LTG. Maybe a bad bolt? The other ones were fine and came right out. Well now the turbo has...
