    Liqui-Moly Synthoil Premium 5-40?

I've run a UOA at 10,000 miles and Blackstone report was far below normal wear using M1 0-40. VERY, VERY low wear metals! I don't know and cant make sense of it. Guess I just won't worry about it. M1 shows very low wear and changing valve cover gaskets at 125,000 miles the top end of the emgine...

    Liqui-Moly Synthoil Premium 5-40?

Well it starting to rattle on startup again with 3200 miles on with the Liqui-Moly 5-40. No better than the the Mobil 1 0-40, in fact, its starting what seems earlier that the M1 would. M1 it starts to rattle on startup around 5000-7500 miles. I stocked back up on M1 0-40 while it was on sale at...

    Liqui-Moly Synthoil Premium 5-40?

Possibly but doubtful. The UOA's have looked terrific with M1, and its done this for quite some time now. Like been doing this since 50,000 miles on the clock. Just rolled 140,000 miles. It only does this on startup when the check valves bleed off the cam chain tensioner. Car runs great and is...

    Liqui-Moly Synthoil Premium 5-40?

Why not run 10,000 miles between changes? The M1 UOA's have been fantastic in this engine. Very low wear metals and plenty of TBN left. You have experience with Liqui-Moly vs. M1? I'll say this about the Liqui-Moly so far; my hyd. chain tensioner rattle is gone on startup, course it would be...

    Liqui-Moly Synthoil Premium 5-40?

Just put this in my 05 Audi 4.2 after 140,000 miles with M1 0-40. Decided to try something different because 3/4 the way thru my 10,000 mile changes the cam chain tensioner rattle with M1 was just getting way too severe on startup. It has a hyd. cam chain tensioner on it so until oil pressure is...

    Mobil 1 5w30 10,000 mi / 05 Accord 2.4L

How many miles on the engine buster? I'm surprised to see makeup oil added too. Looks good, but I like the look of my sample better using the Motorcraft 0w-20 syn. blend. Interesting to compare them. What prompted you to put 30 weight in this engine? Factory calls for 20wt.

    15w-40 Red-Line /GMC 6.5 turbo diesel / 5329 miles

Either a 26 foot enclosed car trailer or a two place enclosed snowmobile trailer. Stilll seems like alot of wear for the quality of oil. What about the oil filter? I was running a Fram filter. Could it have something to do with not filtering good?

webfors, My 6.5 turbo diesel Suburban didn't fare so well. I posted its results in the diesel section. Don't plan to run any of my vehicles longer than 10,000 miles. RI_RS4, This Audi is a 2005 A6, 4.2 non-fsi 5-valve head V8 engine using the factory OEM oil filter. I should add that no...

    15w-40 Red-Line /GMC 6.5 turbo diesel / 5329 miles

Air intake is suspect due to the egr fitting into the rubber elbow leading to the turbo as far a silicon, also live on a gravel road. It's not the first change with Red-Line. I have alot of this laying around as I was a sponsored snowmobile dragracer and gave it up about 5 years ago. Hence, I...

Yes, Blackstone labs. No makeup oil at all. Vehicle uses no oil yet. 80,000 miles on vehicle at time of sample.

Is NOT Direct Injected. Blackstone said to try 12,000 too. 10,000 is just so nice to remember though. I'm glad I didn't spring for the RLI oil. I was really worried after reading RI-RS4 posts about the direct injected Audi's high wear.

    4 Cyl Honda Accord/5w-20 motorcraft/ 10,056 miles

2005 Honda Accord 4 cyl. 10,000 mile changes since new using 5w-20 Ford Motorcraft synthetic blend on this vehicle. Wear looks great but TBN is getting down there. My high-school daughter now drives it, so it has some shorter trip miles and a winter on this change...

2005 Audi 4.2L V8, 9 qt. sump. 60,000 miles using M1 0-40 on every change since new at dealer using bulk supply. I ran the sample now as I'll now be doing my own changes as it's off warranty and scheduled maint. program. I was prepared for the dreaded M1 high iron wear after reading these...

1998 GMC Suburban 6.5 turbo diesel 5329 miles on OLD stock of Red-Line 15w-40 oil. 27,829 miles on replacement engine. .5 Qt. add oil. Don't know how long oil has been in there, 2-3 years maybe. Should add that it pulls a trailer most all the time, winter and summer when it does get run...

    What oil for 2.7T Allroad

I ran Mobil 1 5w-30 for over 114,000 miles without any troubles on 10,000 mile changes, but did more highway than city. Most important is to let the car idle for a couple minutes to cool the turbos prior to shutdown as not to coke the oil in the turbo lines and housing, that is what will kill...

Any reason not to run Schaeffers 5-40 series 9000

RI RS4 likes the RLI brand. It must be ordered, is very pricey and I'm really not seeing too much info on it here at the site. I'm not opposed to Amsoil either I guess. It would appear the Schaeffers 5-40 is pretty heavy oil. Amsoil 5-40 is thinner, right with the M1 0-40. Why is it such a worry?

Any reason not to run Schaeffers 5-40 series 9000

OilGuy, when I click the link I get an error msg. I am trying to research an oil to put into my car and get tied into knots. VW 502.00 is recommended spec. M1 0-40 has been used by dealer every 10,000 miles but now makes startup noise from hyd. cam chain tensioner bleed off after that oil has...

Any reason not to run Schaeffers 5-40 series 9000

Thought about the Amsoil too. Really want to just pick something up locally and not have to order oil. Want what is best for the engine though. I know RI RS4 recommends an oil by Renewable Lubricants Inc. HD 5-40, and the spec is very similar to the Schaeffers 5-40. Used Schaeffers back in the...
