Well I wouldn’t be so quick to condemn the equipment as many variables can be a play and many of these models on the road. A few oil fill pics HERE, some Honda 3.5. The OP may be on the right track with the move to the Mobil product, the vendor in which Honda uses.

I would say those pics look vary similar to my 1.6L VTEC at three month oil change interval(s) with a major conventional motor oil brand; varnish, deposits, etc.

Looks like to date, Castrol, Valvoline, ConocoPhillips, and Amsoil have taken a stance to NOT officially license GM dexos but will make products that meet or exceed the specifications. And then this consumer alert from the Federal Trade Commission: Originally Posted By: AMSOIL February 2011...

Well actually in my opinion, I’ve found this site to be mostly abrasive. Motor oil must really bring it out in people. I can understand how anyone would want to check out for large blocks of time.

Yep, the initial signs of SN/GF-5 price increases going into effect. The other brands are sure to follow. Someone has to pay for it; it's the consumer.
