    Amsoil MCF 10W-40, 300 miles, Suzuki GSX-R 600

the motor is pretty new. it only has around 2,500 miles on it. I might try a 50weight oil and see how much longer it will last. i don't mind giving up a little HP, as it is i have more then i can handle.

    Amsoil MCF 10W-40, 300 miles, Suzuki GSX-R 600

A total of 3days/300 track miles. it looks like it can go another day or two before the viscosity drops to a 30weight oil. BlackStone Comments: Aluminum was well above average in the first sample from your Suzuki. This usually shows excess wear at pistons, though their maybe other sources. Our...

    Redline 10W30, 6.5K miles, 02 Jeep Wrangler 4.0

pickled, i don't think the bypass is really buying me much. i bought it a few years back without really thinking it through. The installation was a bit of a PITA because of space restrictions and i even had to make a custom bracket... I think i left it on all this time just because its there and...

Gary, I have known about the hoses draining back in the engine for while now. To confirm, I actually disconnected the hoses after 20 min from shutting down and they were completely dry. Not even a drop of oil. The problem is that i've been a little lazy/hesitant to adding ADBVs because its a...

    Redline 10W30, 6.5K miles, 02 Jeep Wrangler 4.0

i kinda drive it on the hard side. it sees a reasonable amount of WOTs and the occasional redlines.... but i maintain it well and i don't think running it hard once in a while is a bad thing...

    Redline 10W30, 6.5K miles, 02 Jeep Wrangler 4.0

i used a WIX air filter. have been using it for a while now. I have also been using Redline for a while. This was my 3rd run and about 16K miles total... My last run with RL was only 4.1K miles and the TBN was 2.5 (at the time i had even used lube control). So TBN wise it doesn't do great. I...

9 months and 6.5K miles. Total sump 8 qts. I use an amsoil bypass filter as well. TBN is way down as well. SILICON was twice as high as the last few samples which probably caused the IRON to be twice as high as the last few samples... ALUMINUM 3 CHROMIUM 1 IRON 28 COPPER 6 LEAD 0 TIN 4...

    Jeep CRD Differential Oil Service.

My manual for my Jeep Wrangler has the same schedule for both the front and rear diffs but with a little star next to it. On the bottom of the page, next to the star, it explains that this only applies if you do a lot of towing / off-roading... I would change the oil once at 20K kilometers...

SpecialtyFormulations SynchroGlide, 8K miles, NV3550 (jeep)

John, I have never tried RP. I really would like to stay in the recommended viscosity range (75W80). The only issue I had with SF was not the wear numbers but the viscosity really dropped off after 8K miles (49.0 SUS which I think translates to ~7.2cSt; it started as a 9.6cSt). RedLine held up...

Oil consumption - RL vs M1 vs GC

I have noticed the same thing in my Jeep (4.0). With Amsoil S2K it would burn maybe 1/2 quart over a 5K run, especially on hard runs were the engine would run over 3K for extended periods of time. (3K for a Jeep is not that low and it was closer to 4K for 2 to 3 hours). Since I switched to...

I have no idea but the copper seems very high to me when i compare it to other tranny UAOs. Does anyone have any idea if this is an indication of something wrong?

    RedLine 10W30, 4,100 Miles (6 months), Jeep 4.0 (I-6)

I'm also starting to question if LubeControl has any effect on the TBN and insolubles. Looking back at previous UAOs that did not inlcude LC, I don't see any diff between with and without LC...

    First column is SF and the second is RedLine MTL@9K miles I think I'm gonna go back to RedLine MTL. Should I worry about the high copper? Check out the Iron diff between SF & RL. ALUMINUM 2 / 1 CHROMIUM 1 / 0 IRON 46 / 25 COPPER 40 / 36 LEAD 8 / 12 TIN 0 / 0 MOLYBDENUM 3 / 5 NICKEL 0 / 0...

    RedLine 10W30, 4,100 Miles (6 months), Jeep 4.0 (I-6)

The TBN is pretty bad when compared to Amsoil's TBN retention. I used Amsoil S2K and the TBN was 2.8 after 1 year of service and 6.5K miles. This is lower in 4.2K miles and 6 months...

Using ATF to thin out 10w30

i was told that ATF might have a tendency to polish mating metal sufaces so from that i assume it's a no-no for engines. (baaad thing for cylinder walls) and why would you want to thin out 10W30? But if you really want to why not switch to or mix with 5W20 motor oil instead?

    Amsoil S2K 0W30, 6.5K Miles, 02 Jeep I6 (4.0L)

FowVay, i don't doubt I can get similar results with other lower priced oils but i look at this more as a fun hobby thingy than anything else so I don't mind paying an extra $15-20 per oil change, especially when I only do this once a year... With that said, I’m giving RedLine a chance
