    Oil for blown 3800?

Yes, I did, and I appreciate his input and concern. However, I have been researching this for quite some time and am well aware of the differences between the L36 and L67. Yes, the L67 has lower CR. Yes, the L67 has stronger rods and pistons. However, I'll be running about 6 pounds of boost from...

    Oil for blown 3800?

I may end up trying the GC again. I was running it for a while, but my car seemed to consume a bit more than usual. I went back to the Mobil 1 and it seemed to stabilize back to normal. I'm nervous about the spread of the 0-40. Wouldn't it thin out quite a bit?

    Oil for blown 3800?

Hello everyone, I was hoping you could make a recomendation as to what to run in my Grand Prix. I have a normally aspirated motor which is going to be the proud recipient of a Paxton Novi 1000 supercharger, and I'm not sure what oil to run in it. I've been running Mobil 1 10-30, but I've also...

What is your OCI and brand of oil being used?

1998 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3.8 L36 German Castrol, Bosch filter, every 3-4000 miles. I keep such a short interval because I'm still kinda nervous about running it longer than that. Plus, I drive it really hard and will be modifiying it a bit soon as well, so I figure it can't hurt. I plan on...

    oils that suck

I switched from Castrol to the Drive Clean blend in my girlfriend's car, and oil consumtion was reduced! It doesn't use nearly as much oil as it used to.

My supply of GC has been cut short!

I forgot all about this topic! I'll have to check to see if it's A3 rated, and I didn't want to buy a bottle since it wasn't the GC. I'll buy one quart, though, and see if it's still a funny green color I'm the only person that's ever bought any If I buy case, one case comes in the next...

    oils that suck

Autozone's Valucraft oil. It's still SF rated! There's even a warning on the back not to use it in vehicles manufactured after 1988.

    Oil suggestions for my Lesabre.

I've been running GC in my Grand Prix, although I just have an L36, not L67. It seems to like it. It's a thicker 30 weight than some, and it'll still start even in sub zero weather.

Toyota does not recommend MMT- really an issue?

Not in my state. All the Sunoco's decided it was a good idea to stop carrying the Ultra 94, and instead add 91 octane to the lineup, so now the 91 octane is "premium" and the 93 is "ultra". They charge the same price for the 93 as they were for the 94, too!

Who's as particular about gas as they are about oil?

I go to the cheapest station around, as long as it isn't an agin, decrept run down kinda place. I used to always fill it up with 93, but lately I've gotten cheap and have been using 87. If I ever need a fuel additive, I go for the Lucas. I'd really like to get a scanner to see if there is any...

My supply of GC has been cut short!

I work at an Autozone, and I've had a steady supply of GC there for a few months. Well, I was loading the oil rack today, and we had got some more 0-30 in, with the red label, but it wasn't GC! It just had "Castrol North America" on the back, not, "Imported by Castrol...". I think I'm going to...

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

Really, it doesn't usually get below freezing even during the winter on Cape Cod. This winter has been quite different, so I filled her up with Pennzoil 5-30 last time around. But, yeah, 15-40 most of the time. Where can I find some 5-40? I've searched everywhere, and have yet to see that...

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

Yeah, I've BEEN running 15-40 in it. Pennzoil long life or Castrol GTX (depending on what's available). The real problem I think is the rear main seal. I mean, hell, the thing is up to a quart every 200 miles now! My mother also has a 98 V70 cross country with the 2.4, but turbo'd. It's almost...

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

My girlfriend has a Volvo 850 with the 2.4 5 cylinder. 182,000 on it. It holds oil about as well as a slotted spoon and has a rather audible bearing knock now, too. She's had it since 161,000, it just recently started knocking a bit, but it's been leaking oil since she got it (which we didn't...

    Friend's Cadillac, 32V Northstar, 180K, Opinions wanted...

Tell him to drive it carefully, and if it ever overheats, sell it immediately. I bought a 94 DeVille Concours with 158,000 on it. 2,000 miles later, and fortunately still under warranty under Massachusetts law, it cracked a head on me. After reading up on the motor a bit and discovering other...

    Racing!

I love racing. When F1 is in season, I try to watch most of the races with my dad, makes for great father/son bonding. I would love to participate in some form of racing event, whether it be drag racing or AutoX. Once I get my Fiero, I plan on doing a bit of AutoXing. Hopefully that will be...

What can I do with a bucket of used oil?

Just dump it on the ground. That's what I always do.

99 Pontiac GTP What oil would you run?????

I'm running GC in my GP right now, and it seems to like it just fine, although I haven't done a UOA. It starts quite a bit easier and from what I've read here is thicker than many 30 weights, which the 3800 likes quite a bit.

Bought a Dodge SRT-4, They Recommend Mobil1 Need some Advice.....

I agre with someone above... stick with 10-30 Mobil 1 and don't worry about it. It's deffinitely a proven oil, and comes as factory fill, so I would think that would be plenty. Good choice, BTW. They're quick little things and are seriously under-rated. If I had the money for one (and a little...
