    GC Syntec 0W30 6100km 02 Maxima VQ35

Both UOA's were performed on Castrol Syntec (german) 0W30 (fills 1 and 2 following the change to syntec). As I said in the first post, the oil previously used (before the Castrol 0W30) was a conventional Exxon/Mobil oil (previous owner had the oil changed at the dealership).

    GC Syntec 0W30 6100km 02 Maxima VQ35

UOA #2 - Sampled one week ago. Again, 6100KM on the oil, which was run through the winter, so many starts from -30 or below. This test was done at fluidlife not blackstone like the initial test. Again, sodium was flagged by the tester, but it is less than half of what it was before. Silicon is...

    Where to get UOAs done?

I just took a sample in to Fluidlife after using Blackstone for my first UOA (and receiving results nearly 2 months after submitting them - not a fault of blackstone, but a pain nonetheless). I used a sterile bottle from my lab at work and drove it over there - They didn't mention anything about...

    GC Syntec 0W30 6100km 02 Maxima VQ35

On the recent change, I ended up draining about 3.5 quarts - this was with 1/2 quart added a few weeks before the change.

    GC Syntec 0W30 6100km 02 Maxima VQ35

Well, I'm doing another sampling today so I'll have to see what the new results are. I'm wondering how much of the old oil is left after draining when hot - the old oil used was apparently notorious for a sodium additive. Blackstone indicated that "if sodium is not an additive in the oil, then...

    GC Syntec 0W30 6100km 02 Maxima VQ35

Here are the results of my latest (and first) UOA. This was the first oil change using GC, previously, an esso/exxon 5w30 was used in the engine. 6100km on the oil, 112,000 km on the engine. The Blackstone tech indicated that I likely had a coolant leak due to the sodium content, however, this...
