coolant flush and change for Honda Civic 2008

Engine block drain plug will need a breaker bar. That sucker is on quite tight from the factory. BTW make sure you replace the washer and torque to spec. If you drain the block and radiator, you'll get 90+% of all the coolant out of the system. I would skip the distilled water flush stage at...

    New '09 Honda Civic Recommendations???

I ran Motorcraft 5w-20 for the first 2 oil changes on my 07 civic ex with manual. I then switched to PP 5w20 since. The OLM is smarter than you think. Spent 6 months near SF (mostly freeway) and my OLM was done to 15% after about 11000 miles. Now that I do tons of freeway driving in Palm Desert...

What make of cars are easiest to work on?

In my experience, Hondas/Acuras if maintained well are pretty easy to work on. Almost everything is a 10mm bolt lol. Seriously, my 2003 330i is a MUCH harder car to work on. It doesn't even have proper front central jacking point. The closest to one wil deform after a few lifts. OTOH the oil...

Just picked up 5/07 made civic, change oil?

I bought a 2007 Civic Ex 5speed coupe made on 5/07 on the door jam date. Had about 6 miles so probably sat on lot all year long. Should I change the oil? Oil looks nice and clean despite sitting around for 7 months on the lot.

1992 Honda Civic Auto - tranny fluid?

I'm running Honda ATF-Z1 in my 1993 Honda Civic auto. Tranny runs better with Z1 than any other previous fluid. Bought her new and still on original engine/tranny since 1993. Now has 220K+ miles

OK to use good quality honda filters on Nissan VQ?

Thx for the replies. I got 6 qts of GC waiting to put in my VQ40 when I hit 3000 miles. I'm also going to try the Toyo-roki S2000 filter too.

OK to use good quality honda filters on Nissan VQ?

I recently traded in my 2006 accord SE for a 2007 nissan frontier with 4.0 VQ. Hmm I have a stack of S2000 Japan filters and Filtech Honda filters. Both VQ's and Honda accords use the same mobil 1 filter so would I be in trouble if I put a honda filter on a 2007 Frontier?

    Which Redline for BMW Diff?

I called Dave @ redline oil, he actually recommended 75w-90 as he believes it will run cooler than the NS version, so I placed an order for the 75w-90.

    Which Redline for BMW Diff?

My 330i 6 speed currently uses Castrol SAF-X0 which unfortunately my BMW dealer can only get in 25Liter drums! Needless to say I need an alternative. Alot of people here recommend Redlin 75W90 for a substition. My question is: do I use the regular 75w90 or do I use 75w90NS? since my diff is an...

    German Castrol users

HOLY CRAP 52 quarts! my girlfriend lives up there in victorville and I bought 7 quarts for my BMW. (it has a 6.9 Q sump) There was also a whole row of at least 20 bottles of GC. I went up there 2 months later for my next oil change and they were completely gone except 2 bottles of the american...

    2003 BMW 330i 6 speed manual UOA

I've also noticed the higher than usual moly in my sample. I've been looking at the other UOA's on this board on BMW's and their moly's are lower. I put in 7 qts of BMW synth so we'll see on the next UOA if their oil has changed. I've also noticed based on TBN's the two other 3.0 liter Inline 6...

    2003 BMW 330i 6 speed manual UOA

After spending hours reading this forum I finally did it! I turned in my very own UOA. I know my car is new but I just wanted to see what intervals I should change my oil at. Can't believe my TBN is still at 6.4 Guess I could've waited longer for my oil change. What distresses me is the high...

Fluid for steptronic auto in BMW

Yup on the chart I posted previously in this thread, you have the "Orange" tranny. So Dexron (Mobile1 ATF is Dexron compatible) is the oil your tranny uses (LUCKY!!) [ September 27, 2003, 11:23 AM: Message edited by: magbarn ]

Just bought a BMW, looking for advice

I'm with f1crazy on this one. I'm able to buy my BMW 5w-30 oil for my 330i for $3.40 a quart. I just changed my oil at 5000 (originally planned on 7500, but couldn't wait) I dunno if it's in my head or not, but it runs smoother and quieter even just after 5K. UOA on my 330i 6-speed is pending...

Castrol TWS Motorsport 10W-60 in M Roadster

I have a regular 2003 330i Would it be ok to try this oil in my engine instead of the regular 5w-30?

Believe the hype: the GERMAN CASTROL is the real deal!

You people back east are lucky. Here in the "Republik of Kalifornia" 10 Autozone stores only revealed 6 quarts of the green stuff. My BMW requires 6.5!! I'm gonna probably end up driving 100 miles to find my final quart! BTW a search of 4 wally worlds shows that they don't carry 0w-30 wt at all...

Fluid for steptronic auto in BMW

What year is your 3 series? I have a 2003 330i with a 6sp manual (BMW's sticks also use ATF) and if you do have the ZF (BMW switched to ZF tranny's around 2000-2001, I believe they stopped using GM's except on the AWD models) Anyways, you're right, the fluid your looking for is ESSO ATF LT...

    Accord trans, school me.....

My parents have this car too (it's a 2000) I've tried several different fluids over the 70K miles of the car and the best I've found is the OEM Honda ATF-Z1. It gives you the smoothest shifts by far. HAs something to do with it being specially friction modified. It's even smoother than Mobil 1...
