Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

I’m pretty sure he is. The guy who replaced Dave in tech mentioned Roy being in meetings as of late.

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

I was told by an employee of Redline directly that they are in fact moving blending ops from Cali to somewhere in Tennessee. Said person didn’t get specific with exact city it’s in. Happened a few weeks ago allegedly.

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

Yeah they do, and in fact many more are leaving Cali than most, due to the higher wages, more regulation, cost of living for employees. This isnt an opinion, it's reflected in numbers.

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

I will tell you more. California is very expensive to run any sort of business. Taxes are higher, regulation is higher. Why do you think TESLA, Oracle and HP Enterprise, and others have fled??! Being the 4th largest economy hasn’t done much for the above companies which are LARGE, vs little old...

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

Thanks for the clarification. I’d say I disagree with you that they are “trying to penny pinch on production” when they are in fact leaving the failed state of California(high operational costs/restrictions) . Again, a lot of assumptions. None of use have heard the facts/motivations, so it’s in...

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

I’ve been told they were owned by Phillips 66. They haven’t been a private company for many years. Maybe post who owns them if you are aware. I tend to disagree with this theory that all companies somehow cheapen their product, or completely change it when operations are moved or mergers...

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

Agree! If anything I only see their operation growing. They’ve been owned by Phillips 66 for a long time now, and produce some great products. I don’t use their engine oil, but their gear lubes are proven and I’ve had great luck with them.

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

The guy I spoke with who replaced Dave didn’t get too specific. Just stated that the Benecia California plant had shut down, and all operations for that aspect of the company are now in full swing somewhere in Tennessee.

Redline oil moves operations to Texas & Tennessee

Just confirmed Redline Oil, which was based in Benicia California since 1996 has ceased operations there, and moved it to Tennessee. Their website lists Texas for headquarters so must be a Phillips 66 facility and blending/packaging In Tennessee. Kinda glad to see they moved out of Cali, but sad...

Drain and refill fluid substitute for Toyota WS?

Just keep in mind the Aisin WS is a higher viscosity ATF vs Toyota WS. I service a lot of these, and noticed the discrepancy when looking at Aisin’s product data sheet. Seen too many Toyotas with over 300k on the transmission running Toyota fluid to experiment anymore.

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

My understanding is that as long as it meets GF-6B and API SP for 0w-16 it’s good to go. However, it’s always good to question this oil pump theory and see what people experience first hand. Ultimately I have a lot of faith in the Japanese engineers who designed the car, it’s just a new thing...

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

Paid $13,000 cash, but it was a fire dept buddy. He owns a construction company up north, so all highway miles and Toyota service. It’s a super clean Arizona car. Obviously I got an amazing deal on it. Toyota really did a great job on the 4th Gen.

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

Maybe after this 0w-16 I’ll experiment with 0w-20. Car is way outside warranty so no issue there. Thanks for your input 👍🏻

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

You raise valid points. My reservation in running 20 weight is the fact many of these guys who have worked on these for years in a dealer are saying 0w-16 is the only option long term. Again I’ve built engines, never messed with ultra low viscosity hybrid engines, so sticking with what the...

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

If you find the care care nut on YouTube (he’s a Toyota technician) he talks about these engines and the need to run 0w-16 due to how the oil pump is calibrated. Funny how sensitive folks are on this board lately. I’ve been a member here for a long time. It was a simple question. Folks need to...

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

This engine in North America is I fact spec’d to 0w-16 oil. The light weight oils are all new to me as I usually work on SBC/BBC stuff and just got this tick tac car for good gas mileage.

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

I was referring to the oil pump rather. It’s not a traditional setup. But since you are being sarcastic my comment stands. A circuit could be nomenclature to refer to bearing clearances and passages meant for a certain weight of oil. Love the smugness….

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

Yes the 4th gen Prius is spec’d to run 0w-16. I’ve never used Liqi-Moly or Pennzoil platinum. Likely won’t notice but would like feedback.

Oil for 2019 Prius commuter car

Just bought a nicely maintained 2019 Prius for commuting to work. I have some Liqi-Moly 0w-16 special tech SAE & Pennzoil 0w-16. Not interested in running 0w-20 as these have a calibrated oil pump and circuit for 16 weight oil. As both of the above are API SP do you see any reason why I...

    Mobil 1 0w-40fs flat tappet mercruiser 350

Mercruiser actually didnt offer roller small blocks until the later 90’s. The 87 block has the bosses to covert to roller but my engine is a factory flat tappet black motor.
