Extended OCI for my 2008 Forester XT

I would look elsewhere to save a few dollars other than the life blood of your engine.

    How important is mesh backing?

Many premium filters have mesh backing, most others don't. Is it mostly for extended drains that some do or are there other advantages? My Subaru factory filter has a mesh backing, the OEM dealer Tokyo Roki does not. (As far as I can tell, dissection soon)

Subaru 3.6r H6 factory oil filters available?

Is it possible to get the actual oil filter that comes from the factory? It has no markings, but it has an anti drain back valve, and mesh backed filter media. Looks like a great filter. (No Picts sorry) I will dissect the OEM Tokyo Roki filter in another thousand miles, but it does not have...

    Subaru - viscosity oil question

I have the same engine. I'll stick with the OEM Tokyo Roki filter (with subarus high bypass specs) and any synthetic 5w-30 at 6k intervals and sleep well at night.

Oil Filter Discussion At Advance Auto Parts

When I picked up my first Fram ultra at aap at half price (coupon) guy stated, "that's a steal at double the price" I smiled and said yup. No desire to engage conversation. Fram has a bad rep to work on and most people still say they are [censored]. I wouldn't try anything but an ultra.....no...

    Fram TG: Controversial Filter?

Used my bonus at AAP and picked up a Fram ultra for $5. Will install it next time in place of the usual Synthetic Purolator. I'm expecting rainbows to shoot from the road and other super things to happen!

    Oversized Fram ultra.

I've been dumping 5.5 quarts of oil as per manual for 11 years in my 2005 taco v6 and it has been at the full mark every time. Sick of having half a quart of oil sitting around. Bigger filter plus 6 quarts just seems simpler. Slightly over filled will not be a problem.

    Oversized Fram ultra.

My V6 Tacoma lists the XG3614 as the proper oil filter. I want the oversized version so I can just use 6 quarts instead of 5.5 . Is the XG 3800 the bigger version?
