I changed the oil on my 03 Civic today and when I tightened the new Honda filter it seems the filter bottomed out on the block after about 3/4 to 1 turn. The new filter seems to have the seal about the same depth as the factory filter. It isn't leaking but I don't want to be going down the road...

I was reviewing the the products specs for multigrade, synthetic blend and high mileage oils and it appears the regular multigrade out performs the others. I was just curious as to why the cheaper multigrade oil has better specs than the others

with a good Group III base oil, a good additive package and a price of around $2.50 a quart?
