Are vehicle owners leaving their tow ball in place subject to to insurance fraud?

Depends. There are a lots of states that require owners to remove the tow ball hitch when not towing. I wonder if that has precedent?

Adopted rescue dog DNA results - any guesses?

Funny - I was going to say she had a little Chihuahua in her. And yeah, would not have guessed Chow.

Need HD mower or tractor recommendation for 20ac

Slick gave some very good advice above. One thing as a tractor owner who cuts fields on the side (small field mowing), I have to ask how sensitive you are to allergens? After cutting for a few years here in NH, I have become very allergic to pollen and urushiol containing plants. So much so, I...

Why do hotels put comforters/duvets on beds... year around?

I learned many years ago from a railroad contractor super (Thanks Jeff!) to always peel the sheets back on the corners of a bed and never put your bag down on cloth furniture until you have inspected the room thoroughly. I have found: - Bedbugs (obviously, and didn't stay there at all) - Skid...

    Reclaimed Oil for push mower.

I kind of get the oil-reuse thought. It just seems like a waste not to re-use it somehow. I've tried making a cheap oil burner heater work as a waste oil burner (fail), used it as a wood treatment with linseed oil (50/50) with very good results, and even attempted to filter it and use it as a...

Intermittent Torque Converter Lock Up -1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ - AW4

Not to add any confusion to the thread, but as I recall the Allison spec ATF meets Dexron III specs, has a higher viscosity and is extremely temperature stabile. I can't recall the specification number at the moment, but Amsoil meets the spec with their Torque Drive ATF. I think I may use that...

    3.6 Pentastar purge valve/misfire issues

If you suspect that heat plays a role in the misfire, I think it helps support the ignition coil thought. ~120k miles and 8 years also supports the coil idea. Its worth inspecting closely and swapping to another cylinder for verification.

The Current New Truck Market Is In Trouble

I feel like its a good media story to make people panic about one more issue. I'm trying my best to filter that crap out of my thinking. The sky isn't falling, but some people need to get smart or they will have some painful lessons to learn. I learned them the hard way too.

What oil should I use in a plate compactor vibration case / exciter?

I put gear oil in mine. Its fine either way. These machine literally beat themselves to death anyway.

My dog is nearing her end of life

I know its extremely difficult to deal with, but we had a vet who specializes with in-home care. She was the one who took care of Vinny. It was peaceful and he died in our home, in our arms. It was the most difficult thing I've ever done up until then, but I realize it was the best thing we...

    Another Rotella foam thread

Is it foam or suds? :ROFLMAO: If it had Valvoline Restore and Protect in the name, we'd be calling those "scrubbing bubbles"! Its funny, the hero of BITOG and villain of BITOG currently live in my two Ford trucks.

    New tool thread

I wish I knew what a power trimmer actually did before buying the attachment for my Milwaukee 18v power head. For me, it merely flings stones. No other residual value. Back to edging the garden beds manually.

My dog is nearing her end of life

So sorry. Loosing a pet is not as simple as the term itself. They are the loyal and loving family member that you unconsciously depend on being there. We've lost our two, Vinny and Boo (brother and sister Maltese) in 2024 and last fall respectively. Two of the sweetest most loving dogs ever. The...

    Removing slide bolts, spinning pins?

And VW. The wife's Atlas needs the thin wrenches and 16mm. Was able to hold the pin last time using locking needle-nose pliers, but I'd rather do it the right way next time. I was staring at my SK wrench thinking: "Do I sacrifice my only 16mm for this?"

    Removing slide bolts, spinning pins?

I recently discovered thin wrenches made for this application. Prior to this I took a cheap open end wrench and ground it down to fit, which sometimes means sacrificing your only 16mm wrench. I haven't used the thin wrenches yet, but will use them on their maiden voyage soon when I replace the...

Yanmar Diesel Service - Metal Flakes

So I'm not sure why it took me 5 days to realize that I could cut the filter open and take a look at the media, but yeah it took me 5 days to figure that out. So last night, I cut it open and... ... nothing. Not a spec seen by the naked eye. Nothing in the pleats that I can see, nothing in the...
