    “Scorched earth” test

Who was talking about science ? If you are witnessing metal particals in the oil or oil gelling, do you really need a methodological approach to understand something wrong with the engine in the former case or with the oil in the latter case ? ;) As for relevancy, it seems that you have missed...

    “Scorched earth” test

Hi BITOGers, I would like to bring back the discussion on results of this garage test, namely, so called "frying". During our earlier disussion some members were expressing doubts on relevance of the test to the real life performance because of too high temperature. Indeed, 400 С is too high...

You are right, but you are like one among S&P100 and I am among S&P1000. 😁 Feel the difference! 😆

    Mobil 1 5w40 Euro

Hi Quattro Pete, I am really pleased to see that one of the first BITOGER's is stilll active. I was always enjoyed your posts. Thank you a lot. The only Mobil1 FS 5W-40 which has MB 229.5 approval is FS 5W-40: https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.5_en.html If to be based on relatively...

    Mobil 1 0W40 Euro VOA

European M1 oils like 0W-40, 5W-40 and 5W-30 meeting ACEA A3/B4 spec have quite high nitrogen content (about 50% more than its ACEA A5/B5 oils) and I would trust SonofJoe who was right claiming that some part of boron comes from boric acid to offset negative impact of nitrogen on Viton.

Mobil1 5W40 FS x2: What is the point?

If to be based solely on VOAs, viscosimetry and base oils specified in MSDSs, Mobil1 FS x2 5W-40 is fully dentical to Mobil1 FS 5W-40, but there are rumors that x2 contains a zirconium based friction modifier and it has really good resistance to cavitation among 5W-40 ACEA A3/B3/B4 oils.

High Mileage S2000 needs some advice!

Today, if to apply the formula with suggested coefficient 0.917, it would be 5%. I would start with QSUD/QSFS 10W-30 and if oil consumtion increases, I would try M1 FS X2 5W-40, or M1 5W-40 TDT or Formula M 5W-40.

    '17 Ram Ecodiesel 3.0 - 7501 miles CP Triton 5w40 1300 PPM Zinc

Hi, thank you. Then the drop in both viscosities is either caused by fuel (despite UOA did not show it), or the engine is tough on oil. As for Titanium, it seems at time of your purchase it was not simply added to Triton ECT. Have a great week-end !

    '17 Ram Ecodiesel 3.0 - 7501 miles CP Triton 5w40 1300 PPM Zinc

Thank you for your clarification. In this case I may only guess why about 100 ppm of Titanium are missing. Another issue is a huge drop in both viscosities: according to PDS KV@40C should be about 96 cSt and KV@100C - about 14.5 cSt. Before 2017 they specified respectively 95 and 15.1. Fuel...

    '17 Ram Ecodiesel 3.0 - 7501 miles CP Triton 5w40 1300 PPM Zinc

Maybe yes, maybe no ;) Оn the one hand, since 2017 SDS says "less than 15%" (it was 37% in 2016 and less than 37% in 2014), but from the other hand, as I undertand, not all PAO need to be listed. Given unchanged typical properties specified in PDS, there is still a hope that PAO content may be...

    '17 Ram Ecodiesel 3.0 - 7501 miles CP Triton 5w40 1300 PPM Zinc

Would you clarify what make you believe that it has a significant shot of PAO ? If it's so, it would be great, but I am afraid this was in the past and they changed the formulation in 2017.

    '17 Ram Ecodiesel 3.0 - 7501 miles CP Triton 5w40 1300 PPM Zinc

Thanks a lot for the report. Right time because I am chosing what to use for coming oil change and its counterpart from Kendall (SHP 5W-40) was on my list. Just one issue with the report: according to PDS it should contain 100 ppm of Titanium. They removed Titanium from PCMOs, but PDSs of HDEO...

Honda 15400-RBA-F01 cut open. Later I will try to evaluate these two Purflux filters and report difference.
