    5w40 Dexos2/C3 Oils

I decided to go with the Motul 8100 X-Clean 5w40. I got a good deal on four jugs through Amazon. It has an impressive list of OEM approvals. https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/motul....pdf?1492017640

The Valvoline MST looks good. I also like that they publish their numbers and that I can buy it locally at NAPA.

    5w40 Dexos2/C3 Oils

A little extra weight for when towing. FCA's EcoDiesel had issues with C3 5w30. Not sure if the Baby DMax would have similar issues but why not go a little heavier just in case. Dexos2/C3 maintains the warranty.

    5w40 Dexos2/C3 Oils

I want to run a 5w40 oil in my new Chevy Colorado 2.8 DuraMax. Most Dexos2 oils are 5w30. 5w40 Dexos2/C3 oils include: Redline Euro 5w40 Motul X-Clean 5w40 Castrol Euro 5w40 Is any one of these better than the others?

Running full sythetic in a classic car?

Ridiculous not to use synthetic. Just be sure it has enough zinc for the old flat-tappet engines. I run Rotella T6 5w40 in my 1974 318 Duster and in my daughter's 1969 Karmann Ghia. It is doing well in both cars.

    Oil Recommendation for 1974 Mopar 318 V8

I've been reading up on Preservation Class Survivor Cars. It is VERY clear to me that I should change NOTHING on this car unless required for safety. As it stands, this car is 99% original. Although it has aftermarket wheels, I have the original wheels and wheel covers. The car has the original...

    Oil Recommendation for 1974 Mopar 318 V8

I recently purchased a 1974 Plymouth Duster 318 V8 Auto. It has only 11,000 original miles on the car and engine. I was thinking I would run Rotella T6 5w40. Any better suggestions? BTW: The owner's manual recommends anything from 5w20 to 20w50 depending on average ambient temperatures.

Champion RP Oil Filter Bypass Question

I have several RP 20-820 filters that I bought 35% off from AAP. In looking down the center of these I noticed that the bypass valves for several of them are off center. Just wondering if this is an issue. Photo below shows one with the valve centered within the spring: Next photo shows one...

Wix Filter Shelf Life- Answer from Wix

I bought a dozen WIX filters and used them over a period of five years with no issues. Cut the last one open after putting over 9,000 miles on it and it looked great. I just keep them in a closed plastic container stored in a metal cabinet in my garage.

Worst car to change cabin filter on?

The 2001 VW New Beetle TDI my wife used to have. I broke the lower rib on my left side leaning across the dash trying to get the access cover off. Not kidding. Broken rib. I was leaning against the protruding AC vent to the left of the gauge cluster. EDIT: I never did get the dang thing changed!
