On the flip side of all the discussion on M1 and every other synthetic brad out there, lets talk about Valvoline conventional. Hate it? like it? good uas? clean engines? dirty engines?

Mobil Clean 5000 / Valvoline Premium

I purchased a 5qt jug of MC5000 at Walmart a few weeks back..then I went to Advance Auto today to get my filter and they had the 15.99 deal on Valvoline Premium with a filter, so I got that too..LOL I prefer to stay consistant even though many of you have proven that switching brands does no...

From Maxlife to YBP 5w 30

I've always noticed in my Chev Lumin when running Maxlife synblend that the engine will ever so slightly shudder at idle, and I was due for my next OCI, giving PYB a try and the engine runs smoother than I've ever experienced. Is this placebo?

Maxlife 5w and 10w 30 / no reductions in MPG

I've seen several people recently disucss how they notice reduction in MPG when using Maxlife synblend. I havn't noticed anything in regard to this. My vehicles seem to get exactly the same fuel economny as when using a straight non-HM conventional. Anyone else in my boat? those of you who have...

    Quaker State (Advance Durability)-conventional

Anyone using this stuff? Like it? I'm due for an oil change. Went to Walmart for Maxlife and just didn't want to spend 16 bucks for a blend when I know as a member that conventionals are a blend as it is now. They were out of Pennzoil 5w30 so I grabbed the Quaker State for 10.50 for the jug...

Valvoline Maxlife / Castrol GTX....cold flow

Wasn't sure what to title this thread. I use Valvoline Maxlife 5W30 in winter and summer in both my vehicles, and have read a lot of posts with peoples concerns of cold flow properties during winter. For me, I'm fine with Maxlife and my vehicles are garaged. But I was curious to know in regard...

Can a sludged engine run perfectly fine?

I have a 92 GMC 1500 half ton. I've only looked through the oil fill hole and it is horrible. All I can see is black. Now mind you, I was not the origanal owner.. And any of us Bitogers know, this engine would be spotless had I owned it first. But yet, this engine runs perfect. smooth at idle...

700 mile trip and burned half/quart of Maxlife

2000 Doge Caravan, 3.1L with 96K on the odometer. No leaks. runs awsome. Took a 700 mile round trip in temps of 90-92 degrees all intersate. Got home and half quart low. I'm thinking this could be typical of (not all) but many cars and doesnt mean anything is wrong, correct? No issues to be...

Been running Maxlife for a couple years now...

..and the engine now has 148k on it and the car is 14 years old. Engine does have some minor leaks coming from the oil pan gasket and possible other areas, but I don’t think the HM oil is completely stopping it from leaking. But it’s not enough to top off between changes anyway. Any reason this...

tire pressure + 2000 Doge Caravan

This van is specked for 35 PSI and the tires I have on them max at 44 psi per/sidewall. Is it ok that I keep the cold pressure at 39 psi? When I've been keeping them at 35, I always encounter cooler days where the cold psi dips to 32 or 33 when the van specifies 35. So I've been keeping them at...

PYB / cleans up to 15%

The advertisement states it cleans up to 15% of sludge in the first oil change. Does that mean it cleans up to 15% of the sludge in the 2nd oil change? then the 3rd, then the 4th...until its gone..? LOL

Strangest thing happend to my trans. (???)

My car was rearended in a parking lot while parked and unocupped. It's a Chev Lumina with automatic trans. I clearly had the car in park when I left it. Came out and an old lady hit my car from behind (she was ok thank God). Anyway, she hit it, not very hard, and it rolled forward about 30 feet...

    so confused...help/advice needed...

I own a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan and have a set of brand new General all season tires on it. I had the van aligned as well, tires balanced, all was good. Then I noticed that the van would drift toward the left. Even when I stepped on the gas from a dead stop, I could visually see the steering...

So? Is Ashland selling off Valvoline or not?

????????????????????????????????????????? All that stink about it a couple months ago, now not a word.

    This does not make sense!

SynPower delivers outstanding protection in extreme temperatures, superior cold start properties and superior deposit control, but it does not have MaxLife's added ingredients that are designed to help fight the aging of critical engine parts. ***I got this from Valvolines website. I thought...

    Ashland may not sell Valvoline

For what its worth, and maybe this means nothing...I called the toll free number to inquire on the selling off of Valvoilne. The rep told me that no one as offered anything yet for their asking price and if it is not sold by this Friday, then Ashland may retain Valvoline. who knows. (shrug)
