    Engine oil weight question for HD V-ROD engine

    Sorry RC46_Rider, but I really don't trust any thing H-D has to say about oil. How many years was it that H-D said synthetic oil would damage an H-D motor? Not until they had their own brand did the tune change. V-Rod is a water cooled bike, also has an oil cooler. But primary cooling is water.

    Question about oil used a Harley-Davidson V-Rod engine, it's a single sump set up. H-D book calls for 20-50 unless temp is below 40, the 10-40. Why is 10-40 only ok when the starting temp is below 40? I understand the 10 weight oil flows better at lower temps, but with synthetic does it matter...

    Mobil home mix

    pscholte, Cost is one of my objects to running just M1. I do not trust any oil for 10K+ miles between changes to make M1 cost effective. What oil would you recomend? I have read that most synthetic blends are under 10% synthetic, my way it's 40%. I put close to 2.5K a month on my work car...

    When I was just getting into cars and building my first engine, the guy at the speed shop told me the best oil to use is 2QT Mobile 1 10W-30 and 3QT of Conv. Mobile 10W-30 in any american V8, and change every 5K. I still use this to this day, is there anything wrong with doing this? Mark

    Oil for classic cars

    I have a 1971 Dodge Polara w/318, right now I'm using castrol 10W-30 and changing oil every 3K. I'm getting ready to run a 1951 Chrysler Imperial w/fireball 331ci V8. What oil should I run in this car. Mark

    Adding aviation fuel

    I was told by a local speed shop to run aviation fuel in my car to help keep the top end clean. I have a 71 Dodge Polara with a 318. I was told to mix 10gals to my 24 gal tank. Any body ever heard or tried this? Mark
