Talk about a sound and feel difference with fresh oil! Much quieter and...
The question, " what oil should I use" seems to come up often on this forum.
I propose that any well made engine will run for a vey long time as long as you
use a modern oil and filter that the engine is spec'd for and follow the OCI recommendation of the manufacturer. Filler caps have the...
Since when is conventional oil only good for 3,000 miles.
I read Mobil super is gauranteed good for 5,000 miles and certainly all othe major brands are as good. I do agree that
synthetic is better over this OCI. Also Pureone's are excellent filters for all but the the most greuling conditions.

I keep hearing posters here refer to engines as being easy on oil or hard on oil. While I understand this to mean the oil will be expected to last longer than usual or not, exactly what criteria are these posters basing this knowledge on? what determines whether an engine is easy or hard on oil...
Opinions wanted: for a 5k OCI, what is the best bang for the buck, oil and filter combo. I live in the NE and drive moderately in a Toyoyta Corolla.

07 Corolla CE 4spd auto. 70K mi. 5W-20 Motorcraft semi synthetic oil. Purolator Pure One filter.
So far, So good!
Old oil was a blend of PYB and Platinum, both 5w-30.

I do an onverse correlation with hype. The more the hype or [censored] a company tries to shovel, the more I like to go to a competitor, as long as the numbers are good on the oil. That being said, I tend to like the Mobil products because of thier reputation and availability.

I took the plunge and went and used the motortcraft 5w20 semisyn in my 07 Corolla. Can't really hear or feel any difference. Does anyone know what percentage of this oil is syn? Judging by the price it can't be much, so is it really worth the few extra bucks over the mobil 5k ?

I've always felt that the factory fill should stay in the engine until the first scheduled oil change as dictated by the maitenenace schedule. Do you think something is wrong with the FF oil?

currently running mobil 5k. 5W-30. no leaks, no burn.
Guess I'm looking to be lazy. Perhaps the advice on the EP oil and synthetic flter are the way to go. 70K mi.car!

It's auto and even though it's combination driving I'd say it tends more towards city type stop and go. I live in the burbs.
According to the specs I looked up it' spot on for mpg and my driving.

Ok, in a nutshell, I am thinking since I only drive about 10K per year in my 07 corolla, is it ok if I run Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 with a pure one filter for this entire OCI? It would be nice just to do a change once a year, in the summer!

I have an 07 Corolla CE 1.8L
Oil cap and manual both say 5W-30.
I live in Western NY. I have a 5 qt jug of Motorcraft
5W-20 semi-synthetic oil. The car has 70k miles and out of warranty.
Engine uses no oil. Is this a good oil choice for this car, this time of year?
Of course...
My wife purchased the environmental protection pkg from the toyota dealer for her new Venza. It included rustproofing and
undercoating and some sort of gloss coating over the finish.
Do we need to wax the car with this new gloss protectant?
