    Mazda CX-30 anyone?

I just got a new CX-5 turbo and love it. Looked at the Honda and Toyota, but they had smaller engines, and I could not get by the CVT. I am old school and want a real transmission if I want an automatic. Wish they had a dual clutch.

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

My dealer just put 5W30 "conventional" oil in on my first complimentary oil change on my new 2022 CX-5 turbo, @5200 miles. I was shocked at them not using synthetic, but they said the turbo required conventional. This has to be BS and I am pursuing up the food chain. Ralph

    Mazda 2.5L Turbo oil Choice?

I was just shocked at my local Mazda dealer after my first complimentary oil change (5200 miles) on my 2022 CX-5 turbo. The invoice stated they put in 5W30 "Conventional" oil. I inquired, and they stated the turbo takes conventional oil, and the rest of the engines take synthetic. I then asked...

    Mazda skyactiv specific oil filters

I just called the Mazda dealer that sold me oil filters for my 2022 CX-5 turbo. In changing the oil today, the filter I removed had a different number (PY8W-14-302) on it than the one sold me. The dealer says the one sent, 1WPY-14-302, is the proper filter for the turbo, and has replaced the...

    oil recomendation

What year is the engine and does it have roller lifters or flat tappet? Initial start up is critical for flat tappet cams. Use a lot assembly lube and be sure you have enough ZDDP in the oil you use. Been there, done that. Ralph.

    Guess What I Got Today!!!

Advertise it as classic car oil for flat tappet engines and charge twice the current price. I know I would put it in my classic Corvette. Ralph.

Using 5-30 in a car that is spec'd only for 5-20?

The oil recommended in the owner's manual has to be the same as the oil used by the manufacturer during it's EPA CAFE standards testing. Naturally the manufacturer want the highest mileage figure possible (being the lightest weight oil)for advertising purposes, but this may not be best for...

Garage Door Chain Lube - What's Best in the Cold?

I used regular grease on my screw drive once. Then I spent a while with solvent trying to get it off after the doors wouldn't open. I was told to use Lubriplate Aero.

    Atttention Honda Owners/Oil Monitoring Computer

Throckmorton, you misconstrued my term "flat spotting". I am referring the uneven rubber around the tire from uneven wear, caused by whatever reason. I am not thinking about flat spots that result from the tire sitting for a while and then round out by driving. However, thanks for your comments.

    Atttention Honda Owners/Oil Monitoring Computer

I have never seen a wheel weight flat spot a tire, but there is always a first time for everything. I'm not sure if flat spotting is the correct term, but the tire technician indicated definite uneven wear, enough to make it noticeable during driving. There was a definite drumming of the wheel...

    Atttention Honda Owners/Oil Monitoring Computer

I'm glad to see this lively discussion regarding Honda's OLM system. No, I do not wait for the computer to tell me to do something, and that was exactly my point. I normally do maintenance more often, and that is my choice even though some feel you are wasting money. I would just like something...

    Atttention Honda Owners/Oil Monitoring Computer

I have noticed some posts relating to Honda owners changing oil and resetting oil life monitor back to zero prior to reaching 15% useful life remaining. I have done this twice on my '06 Civic at about the 50% mark. What I now know is that other required maintenance codes will not be shown to you...
