Anyone using a home security system?

I will 3rd the others that mentioned SimpliSafe. We've had it installed for about 18 months now and love it. We were able to start out with a small system and add additional sensors as we saw fit. In addition to 10 entry sensors and 2 motion sensors we also have 4 of their smoke detectors, 1...

    OEM disks won't work!!

I ran into this before working on a Toshiba laptop. I replaced the hard drive with a Western Digital instead of Toshiba and it wouldn't restore. Try this as a work around: Boot with the restore CD and when it gives you the "wrong machine" it should give you a command prompt. On that prompt...

    06 G6 GTP Tires. Why only 2choices?

Excellent info. Thank you. The stock rim is indeed 7" wide. The Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position tires are more in my price range and look like a bargain at $129. Now that I know 235/50-18 will fit I will do some shopping around. Thanks!

    06 G6 GTP Tires. Why only 2choices?

Thanks guys. I'm glad there is nothing special about the wheel. Knowing that 235/50-18 will fit opens up some options for me. I live in Arkansas, so we don't see enough snow/ice to justify buying a set of wheels and winter tires. On the 2-3 days that we do have snow or ice I just park it and...

    06 G6 GTP Tires. Why only 2choices?

It's been a long time since I visited the forums, but I am back! I have an 06 G6 GTP Coupe which I will be needing tires for soon. I looked at TireRack.com and there are only 2 choices! The size is 225/50-18. The only choices are the Goodyear Eagle LS-2 and Bridgestone Potenza RE050A (which is...

what Before "Wax as you dry"....??

You can use the Wax As You Dry and it will definatly look better than it does now. You can expect the wax to last about as long as the freshly washed look lasts. As for what to use, most of that is personal preference. I like Meguiar's products so I would probably use NXT paste wax. Others...

Any Mazda 6 or Grand Prix GTP owners?

Cool. Thanks for the info guys. The more I study this the more I'm thinking about just getting an 05 Pontiac G6 at the employee discount price. They are priced good and are pretty nice looking. But again.. a first year car.

Any Mazda 6 or Grand Prix GTP owners?

Thanks JMH! I definatly hadn't considered a Saab! I read some reviews for the 9-3 and they look extremely sharp. Must be fun to drive too. I can afford to pay about $4,000 down and finance $12,000 for 36 months. Financing a used car for 4 years or more just doesn't make sense to me. Anybody...

Any Mazda 6 or Grand Prix GTP owners?

I'm (used) car shopping and these 2 are on the top of my list. Anyone own/drove either of these and want to give me a review and things I should be looking for? I'm 22 (almost 23) so I'm afraid the insurance for the GTP will be insane, so that one might be out of my budget. Now would be a good...

    Hard drive questions

Only bad thing I have to say about Seagate is their rebate program stinks. I bought a 160GB over a year ago. Never got a check. And yes I called, sent copies, ect. Finally gave up. I know they usually hire out companies to fill rebates, but I won't buy a Seagate because of it. I bought 2 250GB...

    My new job and office!

That's the idea at least... to have the replacement computer configured the same as the origional. Every user has a network drive to save their important stuff to (word docs, excel, ect). But that doesn't mean they use it. They also have an AS/400 system which does nothing but throw errors all...

    My new job and office!

Thanks guys. I've been applying for different IS jobs for over 2 years and I finally got one so I want to do my best at it. I guess the Odd Job part depends on who you ask, and unfortunatly there are no hot chicks to drive around in my BMW (ok, no BMW either) MCSA is Microsoft Certified Systems...

    My new job and office!

Squeaking noise in the front, what could it be?

Yes, pushing down above the wheel does duplicate the noise. It sounds like worn out bed springs. And yes, it is front wheel drive. And benjamming, yes they are all still factory parts.

Squeaking noise in the front, what could it be?

Hi guys. About a month ago I aquired a squeak in the front driver's side. The best way to describe it would be as a worn out bed spring type sound. It's loud enough to be heard easily over the AC and I can hear it at low speeds like driving around a parking lot, as well as highway speeds on less...

    DIY coolant test

Treat it like normal anti-freeze, not the extended life GM hyped it to be. Drain + refill it every couple years and it will be just fine.

Kumho ECSTA HP4 716 vs. Mich. MXVP Plus

I bought a set of the Kumho HP4 716's in June 2003. I replaced some cheap Douglass tires from Wally World and it felt like I had traded cars! They are quiet, smooth, and haven't let me down in any wet/dry/snow conditions. I paid around $62 a tire and they were well worth it! Don't look half bad...

    air pressure question

If I followed the pressure listed on the door jam, my tires would be almost flat. I went from stock 195/70/14 tires to 205/55/16. The new ones list 44PSI max, and I run them at 40 cold (front) and 27 cold in the back. If I run any less than 40 in the front, they squat. Gotta love FWD. Follow...
