    Mobil 1 5W-20 6,228 Miles 2005 Honda Civic

Mobil 1 is wasted money on a Civic, use the cheap stuff. My '02 Civic Si (K20A3) has been feed a steady diet of Exxon except for the last UOA which was M/C. The highest lead was the last UOA and that was (2). Highest Copper has been was (5). But my first UOA was at 20k miles.

Exxon used to cost about 1/2 of MC and now it only 25 cents cheaper. MC has a good reputation so decided to try it.

5/20 is the factory recommended oil. One of these days I'm going to screw up the courage high enough to run Exxon 5w-20 for 10k miles. My last test at 6.5k the Al-3 Cr-0 Fe-2 Cu-1 Pb-0 Sn-0

How long does it take to change your oil? Be honest.

’02 Civic Si Two plus hours. Drain the oil. Use a Fumoto Valve so that is easy. Let it sit for couple hours with the hood open so the engine & oil filter can cool off as much as it's going to cool off. Place an empty (full one would be too bulky & $$$ ) Asgrow soybean seed bag (supplied by...

    Mobil 1 5w20 7100 miles Honda Civic Si K20A3 4th sample

I've been getting lead readings between 0-1 from Blackstone on my Si using Exxon 5w-20. Plus my iron has been trending down. I've never auto-x mine & see very little rush hour stop & go traffic. My last UOA will have another UOA in the next couple weeks.

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

Have done 6 UOA of Exxon 5w-20. The first three were pre SM and the last three were SM. The most obivous change was the Sodium which went up 200x which is why I did the VOA. Also looks like they took out some moly. The good news is who cares, the UOAs have been the same or better.

You'll get better wear numbers as you rack up miles. At 80k my Civic's Exxon 5w/20 UOA was (2) iron, (1) copper and (0) lead. My first UOA, at 20k, it was 8, 5, & 1.

    05 Honda Civic Si - Factory fill 5w-20 - 5040 miles

The 02-05 Si uses the K20A3. The '06 Si (coming 12/05) uses the K20Z3 which is cousin of the K20A2 used in the RSX-S. K20Z3 has the K20A2 style head, Euro-R RBC intake manifold, K20A3 style balance shaft, K20Z1 style camshafts, etc.

Here are the results of a M1 5W-20 VOA and a Exxon 5W-20 VOA It's not good enough evidence to stand up in court but based on the sodium and calcium numbers I'm ready to convict the stealership of padding their profit margin with the first oil change. At least it didn't cost you much to find out...
