USPS: "We can't" culture at its finest. How to restore mail service?

We have those cluster boxes in the neighborhood. They leave a key to the parcel box in your mail box when there's a parcel for you. The key doesn't open the parcel box. Left a note for the mail carrier; no response. I go to the post office; they want me to bring them the parcel box key. I...

My old AFX slot cars 🚗

I still have my AFX and my 1/32 Eldon sets. I was this close to getting this for myself for Christmas. I don't think it's compatible with the old AFX track...

    Heated windshield: A Midwesterner's dream!

I recall those older instant defrosters for windshields. The Highlander only has a windshield wiper de-icer. It heats the bottom and pillar areas of the windshield. They caution you not to touch the glass when the de-icer is on. A feature I will probably never have to use.

Thread for photos that 100% do not violate any Terms Of Service, not political, not too lewd, no gas price pics etc.

Received an odd watch for Xmas. I like weird watches like the old Tokyo Flash type, but this one is different and much easier to read. The current time shows ~11:12. You read the ball bearings outside (hr) --->in (min). It's an inexpensive Eutour (Amazon). It keeps good time; no crystal...

Timing belt replacement based on age?

Is the seller private party or a dealership? If it's a dealer, you might get lucky and the car might already be listed on Carfax. There might be a free Carfax report attached to the listing. No sticker under the hood?

Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

LS430 - Miles = 169.8 (mixed) Gallons = 12.3 Mileage 13.8 mpg  It's winter, but we're not experiencing the frigid temps everyone else is. I noticed that it's taking ~8 minutes of in-town driving to get the temp gauge anywhere near "normal" operating temperature. I'm guessing the...

    Citizen solar watch

Same thing with my Mickey Mouse Eco-Drive. If I charge it for +36 hours with an LED BlockLite, it'll run for ~6 days. Unfortunately, a replacement rechargeable cells for this model is NLA.

The last time I seen a line outside of the local Autozone was to get into the Halloween store next door.

    There's a road near the Blackberry Farm in Cupertino ( 🤷‍♂️ ) that has consecutive curves marked like, 20mph, 21mph, 22mph 23mph.

I remember seeing some red bricks that had swastikas, piled up in the back of a Buddhist temple in Sacramento (??) way back in the 1960's. The swastika was reversed from the more common Nazi swastika. I think it was more of a religious symbol before the 1930's.

    how to clean PCV Valve?

Replace it. I don't even bother with the suck and blow test anymore. The rattle test isn't definitive of a working valve. It just indicates that it's not caked up.

Are you SUPPOSED TO cut Toyota u-joints

In general, I used to push the u-joint in one direction; remove the cap that's sticking out; might need some kind of spacer between the cross and cap to fully push it out. Then press on the cross in the opposite direction and remove the other cap. The idea is to have the hole where the caps...

Things we see driving around - original content (pictures you snapped)

Took some out-of-town family to SF before Thanksgiving. I haven't been to the city in years. Being a weekday (Tuesday), it wasn't very crowded once we got past Pier 39. Lots of parking in the lot behind Boudin Bakery. Sat in the sun for a bit snapped a picture of what was one of my favorite...
