    Motul 6100 FlexMax 5W30 for Mom's Mini?

I found a good deal on 5 ltr jugs of Motul Technosynthese 6100 Flexmax 5W30(w/BMW LL01 approval) and was considering using it for my retired parents gently driven `12 Mini Cooper Base. It's not their primary vehicle and is driven less than 4000mi/yr, and only during the Spring/Summer months. I...

    Does octane booster work?

I've recently had some positive results with Liqui Moly Octane Plus in my turbocharged Audi. It's not cheap and can be difficult to find(especially @ a good price). But it's still less expensive than racing fuel...perfect for the thin wallet, grass-roots enthusiast.

Audi owners, what brand & type oil are you using?

    `06 A4Q 2.0t Like many here, Mobil1 0w40, Castrol Edge(Black bottle) 0w40, or Motul Xcess 5w40 when it's on sale.

Dipstick reading on first pull or second pull?

If you're checking the oil level while the engine is hot(immediately after driving), the oil has just been sloshed throughout the sump(and dipstick) via the crankshaft...so the first pull is usually inaccurate.

    someone else changed my oil

I work for an automotive repair facility and have access to their lifts & tools, but I still often pay one of the technicians to change my oil. It's just a matter of convenience to not have to stay behind after business hours or come in on a Saturday. Besides, even our 'rookie' techs are...

Is there any benefit to using premium fuel?

My `06 Audi A4 2.0T is the first car that I've owned that is very sensitive to octane level/fuel quality. Audi specs 89oct minimum(mid-grade in PA), but the car feels like it has a limited power band with no-name brand 89-91 octane. I began using Shell V-Power 93oct 2yrs ago and it runs much...

    Firestone Indy 500s

Hey xtell, I'll do my best... 1. No flat-spotting noticed. I have driven on Kumhos that were notorious for flat-spotting. The Firestones haven't done it, so far. 2. Great on wet roads with a predictable/progressive amount of slip when pushed(w/Quattro AWD). Deep puddles of standing water are...

Here's the domestic link....Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 And IndyIan, I'm not sure what the low temperature restrictions for this tire are but they'll be switched out for my regular all-seasons by mid-October put into heated storage for the Winter.

    Firestone Indy 500s

These have been out for almost 2yrs now(in N. America). I'm usually not a 'Firestone guy' but I think they have a real winner with this one. This tire is quickly becoming "the best kept secret" in modern Summer performance tires. While it's labeled as the "Indy 500" in N. America, it's known to...

    GF's 2003 VW Beetle 2.0, oil incinerator

My daughter drives an `03 Golf with a similar engine. We've owned it since new and it currently has over 200k miles on it. It's also a big oil consumer, even more so as the OCIs progress. I've tried high mileage motor oils but they usually start getting consumed within 500 miles of driving. On...
