    0w-8 has gone mainstream. M1 AFE 0w-8.

You have been here for 7 years and made thousands of posts and still don’t know how to read oil weights?

Please help me understand Extended Oil Drain motor oils

Agree there is a big difference between 10k and 15k. I went 10k in the Land Cruiser based on my UOAs and those of others on the same engine. I suggested to the OP, sampling every 2,500 miles after 10k to establish when the oil starts to fail. I would recommend the same to anyone exceeding...

    Buick LeSabre 315 K best oil/filter? A recent acquisition

20psi hot idle oil pressure is more than enough. I believe the old rule of thumb is anything more than 15psi at idle is adequate.

    "Best" FCPEuro A40 / C40 Oil

So true. 10 minutes into this video says it perfectly. Never have had a woman comment on a car. Don’t seem to care if I pick them up in the Porsche or dually. I get guys asking me all the time about my Land Cruiser. That said, I have zero game or pickup skills, so I could be missing it...

Redline D4 v Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF v. HPL Blue

Ordered D4, not going to fix what isn’t broken. Thanks.

2011 Toureg TDI 8 speed aisin trans fluid

Stupid brain fart, you are correct. Had to go in the garage and look as I have two cars with that transmission.

Redline D4 v Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF v. HPL Blue

Curious what the thoughts are on these three. This is for my 1996 Land Cruiser which specs a Dexron III fluid. I have been running D4 for the past 20 years in it without issue. Mobil 1 is $10 a quart, D4 and HPL about $15. Do I keep running what has been working, save a bit of money and use...

2011 Toureg TDI 8 speed aisin trans fluid

FYI the correct fluid for the 8 speed Touareg is the Idemitsu TLS, not the TLS-LV. They don’t help as both bottles look the same except that -LV.

    "Best" FCPEuro A40 / C40 Oil

Porsche says c40 oils are not to be used in engines with an A40 spec. Given your intervals, any A40 oil.

    20,00 Mile OPCI

You are mixing a lot of issues and then jumping to conclusions. Briefly: 1) You cannot compare OCI for over the road diesel trucks, designed with huge sumps and filtration systems for 50k intervals with a gas powered daily driver. 2) One size does not fit all. A car with 2.0 liter...

How many people prefer to use the dealer for services while under factory warranty?

What is a warranty? At 50, I have still never bought a new car. I went to the BMW dealer a few years ago to have the airbag recall performed on my wife’s wagon. The steering wheel locked because the wheels were turned and the young service rep couldn’t figure out to wiggle it so the ignition...

Please help me understand Extended Oil Drain motor oils

And despite you doing UOAs that support that these intervals are safe for you, you will probably get several people telling you that you are destroying your engine.

Please help me understand Extended Oil Drain motor oils

If you can do it without adverse wear, why shouldn't you do it? As I posted above, I just sold a GDI car that I ran 10k intervals at 190k that burned no oil between changes. The car was driven in mixed driving. I have done 10k intervals in my 1996 Toyota Landcruiser for more than 20 years. I...

Please help me understand Extended Oil Drain motor oils

That would be because the intense sarcasm with which I wrote my post was filtered out. I am in the do as long of OCI that is safe club. I debated dropping to a shorter interval than 10k on my 2016 Cayenne S (twin turbo V6) but given it holds 9.5 quarts decided I would stick with Porsche’s 10k OCI.

Please help me understand Extended Oil Drain motor oils

Going over 4k on a direct injected engine is definitely certain death. I made that mistake on my Porsche Cayenne with a VW VR6, doing the factory recommended 10k intervals with an A40 oil. When I sold it with 190k miles, it still didn’t burn any oil between changes, but I am sure will...

What, you want to actually make a suggestion based on the vehicle instead of just blindly making a recommendation? Crazy? Watch, it will be a Tesla.

    New Mobil 1 C40 GT 0W-40

I recall 20+ years ago Redline race oils had lower levels of additives, in part they said, to reduce pre ignition. They were also clear, the oil wasn’t meant for street use as it had insufficient additives for extended use. How that translates to today, I have no clue.

Toyota 4.7L 2UZ-FE engine oil thread

My recollection from UOAs years ago on those engines was they were extremely easy on oil and pretty much agnostic as to weight. Pick the 30weight of your preference, change at reasonable intervals, and don’t worry. If it were mine, I agree with swampdodo, Mobil 1 , Toyota filter, and I would...

Recommend an oil choice to me - used 2005 Highlander V6

My understanding of synthetic blends. As oil specifications have become more strict, the ability to meet them has become harder to impossible to meet with oils that are primarily Group I or Group II based (mineral). I don't think that Group I has been used a primary base oil in any oil that...
