    Random car find.

Not exactly a classic, but for a thousand cash with 48,000 miles when I'm in the neighbourhood this weekend, I'll take a look. It's a G-body so there are a lot of bolt-ons related to the Monte Carlos, etc. of the 1980s. Build sheet: http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=2G2GR69H1G2209244...

    Black light coolant detection?

Where can I find a black light and UV dye at a reasonable price to track a tricky coolant leak?

    PO300 Random Misfire

Sounds like it's coming from the area of the number 2 cylinder, GM 3100 SFI. I know the vacuum fuel pressure regulator bleeds off when it sits overnight, and it only misfires under load when leaving a light but it's a bad one. I checked the plugs and wires. Replaced the plug with a new OEM one...

Good source for rebuilt engines in Canada?

    I might be looking for a 2.4 DOHC code X from a 2000 Cirrus.

    Things I can't high-five for...

...include torn rotator cuffs. I could, but it would hurt pretty bad. I'm not allowed to lift anything heavier than a can of peas with that arm for a few weeks. Ugh.

    Is the cost too high?

A close friend of mine has a roommate that is behind on rent and has other problems that he wants to get rid of. I am looking for a place to live, and he'd charge me a much better than fair price. I know I get along with him very well and would have no problems living there. The problem is that...

    Underprepared for Halloween

I think I may have just got roped into going to a Halloween party by a girl, and considering I have not done anything for it since I was nine, I lack a costume. Anybody have a good idea for something I can construct that isn't a total disaster between now and about 8 pm on Saturday night? (By...

    Ever walk from a job?

I don't mean delivering pizza or McDonald's, but get fed up with a reasonably solid long-term job and leave with no notice or just go AWOL. I'm starting to get there.

    Good used, IRS, RWD sedan/coupe?

I have been looking around the interwebs at some 1990 to 2006 vehicles. The range in price is about $7,000 to $20,000. I'd like to find something with: - 200+ hp - auto or manual - daily driveable - can seat four people - can seat 6'2" me (mid-size or larger, basically) - 6 or 8 cylinder engine...

Things that are lots of fun.

Sending your second biggest customer to the collections agency because they are jerking you around on year-old invoices. When you buy a company, you buy their liabilities. Pay them and get over it.

    Denso Iridium Power

Wow, these plugs made a big difference. I just changed ACDelco double platinums with 50,000 miles on them to Iridium Power IT16s. The plugs that were in were still good and were still at .060 gap, so I don't think there was anything wrong with them. The car seems to pull much better through...

    Bad valve stem seals?

I just changed the spark plugs on my friends 2000 Chrysler Cirrus with the 2.4 DOHC four cylinder. He had said it was running badly and throwing a CEL, which coincided with a misfire in the number one cylinder. The plugs out of the number one and three cylinders had a heavy coating of oil...

    Hard starting problems.

My car has always been brutal to start so today I pulled the throttle body and idle air control valve> The IAC was a little sooty but tested okay for resistance, the service manual said 40-60 ohms and it was right on the button at 50. I cleaned and reinstalled it, and the throttle bore and...

    Tempting buy?

$1000. 55,000 miles. No rust, well taken care of by a retired man who bought it at age 60 as sort of a last vehicle. 318 and A727, M-body 1986 Fifth Avenue. I think I might buy it, "improve it" and keep it for a daily driver for a while. It has the potential to be a good and inexpensive daily...

    Extra-long die grinder?

I am trying to find a 12" working length (not overall length, the length from the base of the grinder to the collet) pneumatic die grinder. Ingersoll-Rand and Chicago Pneumatic top out at 6", and Dynabrade goes to 7-1/4". Does anyone have any ideas?

    Reccomend a transmission filter?

I am looking for a filter for my GM 4T40-E. What is a good choice? OEM, ATP, FilTrans, Wix? Swapping for Red Line D6 or Amsoil ATL and a new filter with a full fluid exchange.

    True or false...

    Rent or buy?

In Edmonton, the big thing the past few years has been condo conversions of apartment and townhouse complexes. Right now, the market is quite low, and I am not sure what direction the market is going at the moment, or what the story of interest rates will be. For the twelve months coming up, low...

    "Starter" car.

Younger brother is starting to drive, and I found a 1988 Buick Electra with 97,000 km/60,000 miles for $1500. Looked like some little old lady's last ride from the showroom to her grave. No rust, tune up and service just done, valve cover gaskets replaced due to a minor weep, only about 3,000...
