Recommendation for filter for Alfa Romeo 4C?

Just to follow up and hopefully help someone in the future, I just received the "Mopar" oil filter and it is literally a Mann branded, German made filter in a Mopar box. There is no sign of Mopar anything on the filter.

Recommendation for filter for Alfa Romeo 4C?

Thanks for all the input. I ended up ordering the Mopar OEM filter and will check it out to see if it is just a rebrand of the OEM German made Mann filter or whether they have cheaped out now that the Mann filter has been superseded in the USA for this application. I would've done the Fram...

Recommendation for filter for Alfa Romeo 4C?

I am indeed leaning towards the Fram filter although I wish the bypass were higher such that it met OEM spec. The high bypass pressure spec is beyond my paygrade as far as the reason/importance of it. It is interesting to consider whether a full synthetic filter such as, in this application, the...

Recommendation for filter for Alfa Romeo 4C?

Hello all: It is about time to change the oil/filter on my 4C. For those unfamiliar it runs a fairly crazy little boosted 4 cylinder that is 1.7L but makes over 300 HP in slightly modified guise such as I am in. I run either M1 or Castrol 0W-40. For the longest time the only filter available...

Correct Viscosity for a Honda S2000?

I had an AP2 S2000 for a number of years and happily used ACEA A3 0W-40 oils in it (M1 and Castrol usually) to no deleterious effects. My thought from hours of research was that oil technology is not where it is today when the S2000 was originally designed in the 1990's. Two decades ago, oils...

    Fram cartridge filter

I have used the Fram Ultra cartridge filters for my Lotus (Toyota engine) application and have been very pleased with the results. Build quality seems good and I have noticed nothing to indicate a failure when I inspect the used filters.

    cartridge Filters

I have 3 cars presently (VW, Lotus, and Porsche) that use cartridge filters and have had some in the past as well. I much prefer them to spin ons, especially when they are mounted top side for easy access. I have used Mahle, Mann, Fram Ultra, and Wix cartridge filters. I read bad things about...

Fram oil filter Ferrari 308 GTB cut open

RooflessVW speaks the truth. I go to lots of car shows and the older Ferraris, even the multi million dollar cars, all have the orange can filters.

Castrol or Motul? - VW TSI 2.0 APR Stage 1+

Alfa Romeo 4C Mann W6014 Filter Cut Open: Big Prob

It is really annoying that the aftermarket must solve an OEM issue, especially on this type of car. It is also annoying that a "premium" Mann German made filter experienced this type of failure. Unacceptable really.

Alfa Romeo 4C Mann W6014 Filter Cut Open: Big Prob

All: I am reposting this from the Alfa Romeo 4C forum as I would like to get the opinions of posters here as I can think of no other collection of individuals more knowledgeable about oil filters on the planet than can be found here. I did not author the original post but have contacted the...

IIRC the Wix canister filters are nothing special. Middle of the road filtration rates. I would look elsewhere.

Cartridge filter recommendation: Porsche 997.2 911

Slacktide: I usually order from Sunset or Suncoast or Pelican Parts for my Porsche dude. I have found shipping from Rockauto to be on the high side dude. HTSS: Thanks for the words of wisdom. I have a Wix cartridge in my VW and I will listen at startup for any noise and will pull it in a bit...

    Best oil for Porsche 991

My Porsche has the same 9A1 engine as yours although it is a generation older. I have always had good luck with both Mobil 1 and Castrol. Both are available in 5 quart jugs at WM in my neck of the woods for approximately the same price and both carry the Porsche A40 approval.

Cartridge filter recommendation: Porsche 997.2 911

Thank you all for the input. I have used Wix filters in other cartridge applications and have been pleased with it. I certainly don't mind paying premium money for a premium product but do mind paying premium money for a subpar product. With exotic cars in particular there is a slavish belief...

Cartridge filter recommendation: Porsche 997.2 911

Greetings all. I have a quandary and I would appreciate any assistance in solving. My car, a Porsche 997.2 Carrera S with the 9A1 DI engine takes cartridge filters. OEM Porsche filters are manufactured by Mann or Mahle and are expensive and difficult to source. Easier and cheaper to source are...

    Alfa Romeo 4C: ACEA C3?

I am definitely going to shorten OCIs on the car and am going to do a change soon to rid the car of any break in remnants that are floating around in the oiling system. I live in the eastern USA and believe we don't have the low sulfur petrol as on the west coast. Part of me wants to go ahead...

    Alfa Romeo 4C: ACEA C3?

Everyone, thank you so much for the advice. Sounds like I should stick with ACEA C3. I am going to try to reply to everyone as best I can: The OCI is a variable one calculated by the car but most people have had the notice pop up around 9,000 miles. No one has driven the car much over that...
