How long has Rotella 15W-40 been JASO-MA?

How long has Rotella 15W-40 been JASO-MA?

Before the CJ-4 compliance the Rotella oil failed to meet the JASO ash test. The older CI-4+ had too much ash to meet JASO specs. With the CJ-4 the ash level dropped below JASO maximum. That allowed Shell to invest the time and money to test for the remaining metric -- the friction test. They...

    Your M/C OCIs and why?

3K in my Goldwing, with Rotella 15W-40. Why? Cuz about the time 3K rolls around I have the itch to wrench. And since I'm a klutz with a wrench I only have the confidence to do the oil.

Best engine design for a motorcycle?

Best engine design is the one that works, gets you down the road and provides joy. In other words, the Wing's flat-6!

Rotella and Goldwing -- Series of UOAs

You know, I have ... once, I think. It was perfectly good oil. But I'm a bit of a minimalist. I settled on the 15W-40 when it was $8/gallon at Wal-Mart and once settled, I stay settled. On sunruh's advice I almost -- almost -- went with SuperTech. But like I said, once settled, I stay that...

Rotella and Goldwing -- Series of UOAs

Ever see the movie "Transformers?" Well, my Goldwing is like that! Yes indeed ... instantly transform to any condition! Superslab tourer, ultra-nimble trail bike ... it'll do it all. And it came with Megan Fox ... but in my case she doesn't talk. All because I use Rotella.

Rotella and Goldwing -- Series of UOAs

Hey Kevin ... cool about being in Dallas for an extended stay. My February is still in flux ... if I thought I had some time to come over to Dallas on Wing I would. But I hope you enjoy your time there!

The Shadow 750 is a water cooled bike, right? Go with the conventional ... and don't look back.

Rotella and Goldwing -- Series of UOAs

Hey Kevin -- Thanks! Yeah, the forced exile did me good. I spent time reflecting on my bad behavior and I'm now a changed man. Truly, I am. Screw the "Motorcycle" forum and all their silly childish debates. Screw the moderators for not seeing the humor in my comment that I have the...

Rotella and Goldwing -- Series of UOAs

Look, we have the perfect oil in Rotella 15W-40. I've proven it works exceedingly well in the Honda Goldwing. Therefore, everyone should own a Honda Goldwing. Seems perfectly logical to me.

Rotella and Goldwing -- Series of UOAs

Yeah, I could extend the interval. In fact I thought about going to 4K this time just as a change. But my riding was way down this summer and it took almost 7 months to go 3K, so I decided to just swap it out and test. Plus, there are times a man simply must change out the oil. :-)

Rotella and Goldwing -- Series of UOAs

Another in the series of UOAs for Rotella 15W-40 CJ-4 in my 2007 GL1800 Honda Goldwing. The objective is to hold the oil brand / weight / type a constant variable. Three UOAs here, totaling 9K miles. Earlier UOAs were not necessarily with Rotella CJ-4. Some oil changes had no UOA performed...
