Cookware brand/type to preserve nutritional value?

My Lodge cast iron is smooth as glass. If you buy a brand new piece of cast iron the bottom of the pan may seem rough for the first few cooks but after that it becomes smooth. Seasoned right it will work well. I also use butter or EVOO to cook with or sometimes Canola oil. Cast iron is tried and...

Cookware brand/type to preserve nutritional value?

I have used Lodge cast iron for years and years. IMHO, cast iron is excellent. I also have some Revereware pots that are at least 50 years old. They are stainless steel with copper bottoms. Not sure about modern Revereware quality but the Lodge is awesome. I would buy a few pieces of Lodge and...

    Which fluid should I use?

You also have Amsoil and Redline. I have used both with success in different vehicles. Not knocking the brands you mentioned - I really like Valvoline - but do a little more research and include Amsoil and Redline. Both are full syns from solid companies that should give you great performance...

    Diff oil for Towing Tundra?

I had a Tahoe with the 5.3 liter V-8 that I used to tow a 30' travel trailer all over the South and East up to Pennsylvania. It was a tandem axle fiberglass hard side not one of those ultra lites. The Tahoe had a limited slip rear as well. I also added a CAI, tune, Magnaflow cat back and 20"...

    CVT fluid

I installed Amsoil CVT into my Nissan Sentra about a month ago. I did another drain and fill on Friday as well so I have replaced 10qts so far on a 7.7 qt factory fill. I should have 99.99% Amsoil in there now. I plan on driving this Amsoil fluid ~40K to 50K before changing it again. I might cut...

2011 Nissan Sentra CVT Fluid Change

Today I did a drain and fill on my 2011 Sentra.....89,000 on the clock. Drained out 5.25 quarts of fluid and replaced it with Amsoil CVT. I read the system holds 7.7 quarts on Amsoil's page so not all the fluid drained out. Should I: - drive a few hundred miles (one month) and do another drain...

    Penzoil synthetic 5w 30 in my 06 4.6 Mustang

I run Maxlife in my 4.6L Explorer. She has 225,000 on the clock and runs well.....no drips, runs or leaks. I use Maxlife to prevent possible leaks, not solve them. These are good motors that will run on just about anything. Your Pennzoil is a good choice. I run Fram Ultras in all my vehicles also.

    which oil? 98 Z28 LS1 w/ 152k miles

Maxlife silver bottle - the syn version - and a Fram Ultra filter. The use of a HM oil does not indicate there are any leaks or problems, I think a lot of people miss that. Maxlife is the best HM oil in my opinion.

    Fram XG2 vs Motorcraft 820s

I have not used a Motorcroft filter, but I do use a Fram Ultra on all my vehicles......and have for a few years now. As others have stated in various replies, the Ultra is a good filter. The 820s can be suspect.

Our cars are due for oil, any recommendations?

Car 1 - Maxlife red or silver bottle. I have used both with success in the high mileage Fords listed in my sig. Cars 2 and 3 - Any Amsoil product (like SS or XL) or Schaeffers. I have used both and will continue. Yes, you could use PYB, which is a great oil, as well as anything off a Wal-Mart...

    Oil filter wrench??

The two Fords in my signature both take the Fram Ultra XG-2. I changed both filters last weekend and had a bugger of a time getting them off. I did get them off but it took way longer than it should have. They are stuck up in the engine whereby the regular oil filter wrench I use doesn't have...

What Oil Filter Is Everyone Using For The Ford 4.6

I use a Fram Ultra in the Explorer with the 4.6L. I run the Fram ultra in all four vehicles in my signature and have for some time.

Got the oil picked for the new rig...Valvoline WB

The diesel would be a great option but an expensive one. A friend of mine just bought a 2016 F-250 Super Duty gasser because he could not justify the extra approx $10K for the diesel package. Here in Georgia the body will last as long as the engine, but up in Northern Michigan where the OP...

Got the oil picked for the new rig...Valvoline WB

Valvoline WB is a good oil. My Dad used it for many, many years. My first new car - Chevy Cavalier w/5 speed - had WB every 3K and never had any issues. Sold it with only 125K on the clock and it was driven hard. I use a full syn or blend - see my sig below - and feel the rather small price...
