    Need advice on Filter choices

I like a Motorcraft on my Ford and an AC Delco on my GM's. In the end, I think it's whatever makes you feel happy or feel like you are doing what you think is best for you and your car lol. Sure, it probably doesn't matter as we all tend to take care of our vehicles around here and short of...

Do I really need racing oil?

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what kind of oil temperatures you're hitting. BUT.. without knowing that and still wanting to try something cheaper, I'd lean towards Rotella T6 5W-40, GC 0W-30 (if that's still around), or Mobil1 0W-40. They're known to kind of break in to a certain...

Post what you used in your first car.

It was before I'd ever heard of BITOG and I ran 10W-30 Castrol GTX... because it was "thicker" than 5W-30. Yeah, back when I didn't really know what the [censored] those numbers really meant.

Recieved a SMART predict failure notice

Go to the Computer Management window (right click My Computer > Manage) Go to Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System Look to see if you have any hard drive errors showing up, already. If you are flooded with them, you should be getting a new HDD and making back ups ASAP. Probably should be doing...

Oil: brand loyal or sale loyal?

I try to go by UOA's of other engines like the ones I have. Maybe that made me brand loyal. Have use Rotella T6 5W-40 for around 9 years, now, in my 5.0 EFI. Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 in everything else that's a car.

I forgot a simple step when changing rotors.....

Well, if it makes you feel better, I've never cleaned off my rotors on anything lol.

What oil are you running in your lawnmower?

Well, I'm about to change the break in oil on mine and another family member's Husqvarna Z254 23HP Kawasaki zero turn mower. While deeply considering some Rotella T5 10W-30, I believe I'm just going to go with what I originally planned and use in everything else of mine, which is Rotella T6...

Haven't checked my oil in months

I check mine quite a bit, but only because I like to pop the hood and look around in there. That's in my truck. As far as my car, I go months without checking it because it's boring lol.

I wouldn't put that junk in my lawn mower.

    Oil longevity

Seems like a good set up to get a UOA on, imo. It may save you time and money, or it may show you that you need to spend that extra time and money on earlier oil changes. If it was me, I'd get a UOA done at 2 years on that and just go from there. Rotella is a long lasting oil, the TBN always...

    Rotella T6 5w40 - 2006 GSX-R600 - 4100 Km

I have this exact bike. 16,000 RPM red line. It's the fastest 600 I've ever rode. Nothing I say has anything to do with picking am oil. But I run M1 4T 10W-40. It shifts great and runs great with it. The only prob I have is by 2000 miles, the transmission gets clunky and the engine is noisier...

'01 Toyota 3.0: oil to clean up sludge?

HDEO's are the way to go. Rotella T6 rejuvinated my leaky seals and has been slowly cleaning my engine for 8 or 9 years. I actually used quite a few oils before, and during, such as GTX 10W-30 and 10W-40, M1 0W-40, and GC 0W-30. From my experience, Rotella T6 got black faster than any of the...

    Rotella 15W40 2,125 miles 1970 VW Beetle

Yeah, I agree. I'm not saying the OP is a liar or anything. But we've all seen enough UOAs to know when something is too far away from the norm. It's very likely that Blackstone showed him the wrong results or that they weren't calibrated. I would definitely holler at them and let them know...

    Rotella 15W40 2,125 miles 1970 VW Beetle

All I know is, Rotella doesn't have those zinc or phosphorous levels. That additive must have it in there. It claims to help prevent metal on metal wear, which is what zinc and phosphorous do. I'm not saying that's all it has in it, but I'd bet money it does. It's not like these oil additives...

    Rotella for 6.0L Gasser

The Rotella line up, including the T6, is hard to beat. I'd stick with the T6 5W-40. It's been a seal "rejuvinator" in my experience. From my 302 to the 598rwhp 2.2l KB 4.6 DOHC Cobra, it's held everything together under some very rough circumstances while always lowering oil consumption and...

Wow. If this person drops to 10-12k miles, that engine will turn out great results. Looks like a match made in heaven.
