    different oil quality?

Obviously, much of what is sold at WM is the same as other stores, but there are some that are different. For example, Dyson sells a WM only vacuum cleaner that they admit has a shorter warranty and WM specific parts. I was buying a Panasonic corldless phone a few years ago and was comparing...

    MC - Synpower Observation

I have a 2006 F150 with the 5.4L engine. For the first 70K miles of the truck's life, I used MC 5W20 and MC filters. My only issue was that there was a light varnish on the dipstick. Due to the varnish, I decided to switch to Valvoline Synpower 5W20. I kept using the MC filters. Almost...

    Engine Runs Smoother on Dino

This is interesting as I may have a similar situation. I have used MC 5W20 for 70K miles in my '06 F150 with the 5.4L engine. The engine has always started and ran quietly with this oil and a MC fl820s filter. A couple changes ago, I switched to Valvoline Supersyn 5W20 because I saw some light...

Its easy to get to, has a drain funnel...

Ford loses nearly $13 billion (with a 'b') in 2006

I have a 2006 F150 and a 2007 Expedition EL and I think they are very impressive vehicles. We test drove many vehicles and they beat all comers. I think they will right the ship. Jon

    Intake valve deposits.

Does the Lucas UCL (Upper Cylinder Lubricant) work as well as the FP60 for both cleaning and improving mileage? Thanks. Jon

Lucas UCL/FP on a New Car?

Is it ok to use Lucas UCL or FP60 on a new car from day one or do we need to wait a few miles before starting these? Thanks. Jon

oil filter location on '05 Ford full size trucks?

The oil filter for a 5.4L is underneath on the driver's side. The neat thing about it is that it has a funnel underneath which eliminates a lot of the mess. Jon

    Volvo Factory Fill

Are you recommending that I buy the filter and kit from a Volvo dealer? I bought Wix for our BMW 325 and it came with a new washer and o-ring. I may check it out to see if Wix includes these same items for Volvo, unless there is a reason I should only use OEM. Thanks. Jon

    5 Cylinder Engines

Pablo, is the NA 2.5L engine in your 850 pretty much the same engine as the NA 2.4L engine in our '05 V70? I agree they are heavy cars - the sticker on our V70 says it is something like 4600 lb. It feels pretty solid. Jon

    Volvo Factory Fill

I'll probably change the oil soon just in case they filled it with 5W30. The fact that the manual lists 5W40 as being good makes me think that the engine probably likes thick oil. I'm thinking about using M1 0W40 or 5W40. Jon

    5 Cylinder Engines

My wife just purchased a Volvo with an inline 5 cylinder engine. I know the Chevy Colorado uses on also. A 5 cylinder engine seems odd to me. Are there advantages to an inline 5 versus an inline 4 or 6? The only things I can think of is maybe it is smoother than a 4 and less expensive than a 6. Jon

    Volvo Factory Fill

Anyone know what grade Volvo uses for factory fill in the 2.4 NA engines? If it is 5W30, I want to change it immediately because the manual says that grade is only good to 84 degrees and it is close to 100 in Texas right now. If it is 10W30 or 5W40, I'll leave it in for a while. Also, any...

    BMW 5W30 vs GC

These oils are around the same price (BMW a little cheaper). The additive difference are that GC contains magnesium and the BMW oil contains Moly. The BMW may be group III and the GC may be PAO/Ester. For 7500 miles, I wonder if one oil would be better than the other.
