Question on Stored Transmission Gear Oil (MTL-R)

Danke fella's. Does anyone remember if MTL-R is ok for Limited Slip Differentials? I'm pretty sure it is, since Redline ok's the MT-90 for the Speed3 Transaxle. This is great news. I can't wait to put the MTL-R in my speed3. I was heartbroken when I couldn't buy it anymore! Thanks a lot for...

Question on Stored Transmission Gear Oil (MTL-R)

Hey Guys, Just found one of my friends has 1 gallon of MTL-R (Specialty formulations, RIP) that was "unopened", and half a gallon of opened MTL-R. Both have been sitting inside of a garage for roughly 3 years. Is the unopened MTL-R still good to use? How bout the opened bottle? I'd love to...

    Status of Specialty Formulations

I was just about to send an email about which of your fluids to use in my new upcoming Mazdaspeed3 transmission :(. I'm so depressed now. MTL-R was such a fantastic fluid in my 6. Everyone loved how smooth it made the shifts. Best of luck in your endeavors! Guess I'm off to do research...

What are auto makers thinking with all the 17"+ wheels?

slugsgomoo, Larger rims do not offer greater performance vs a similar profiled tire on a smaller rim. This has been proven time and time again. The whole big rim thing is nothing more then extremely well thoughtout and executed marketing. Whats the main reason people get better performance...

New Summer Performance Tires on the Market

Latest issue of Grass Sports Mag put the RT-615 Azenis above the Yok and Hankooks and the old RT-215's. Don't know if it was that exact tire or not though. They also didn't run the toyos, and were running the RT-615's at 50psi! I find this a bit odd as many of the SCCA guys seem disatistifed...

Virginia International Raceway Grand East Course

The honda civic weighs around 2000 lbs, 140 bhp, and had R comps on. It could out turn and out handle almost every car in its class. The problem was...there were alot of ego's on the track. When your sitting in your 115,000 USD Porsche GT3...and a 3k lime green honda civic is riding your...

    RPMs affect on engine longevity

Don't forget that some engines "need" high revs to survive. On certain engines (rx8 comes to mind) carbonization occurs if the engine its "stretched" rather frequently. There is a starting rash of engine failures all from ATX Rx8 owners because the standard shift points that the atx shifts are...

    Radiators: Brass/Copper or Aluminum core?

At the track, the bmw's always seem to have plastic tank issues with their radiators. I haven't been to a track event yet where at least one BMW wasn't replacing that **** thing. The 6 had the same type of contraption (single core alumn, plastic tanks) so I yanked it and replaced it with a full...

Virginia International Raceway Grand East Course

You'll love it TR3. Grand east is just fantastic. The spiral is unbelievably fun. I wish I could do it all day long . And bit*h really is...a decreasing radius turn, off camber, and down hill, right after a straight. Many a high powered car went flying through through unable to stop in time.

Virginia International Raceway Grand East Course

I recently attended the Mazdadriver's Grand East VIR driver's "education" event. It was a **** of a blast, and an incredible course. Laptimes were in the 3.5-4.5 minute range! Car's did fantastic, as well as the T1-R's. The addition of the patriot course really slowed down the overall laptime...

Please point me to a previously discussed url if I'm asking a noob question. Do you go by days of track...
