Looking for a New Oil Filter

No intention of getting the OG Ultra Synthetic from that eBay seller?

Looking for a New Oil Filter

You only highlighted half my sentence, I was only suggesting that the term may imply that. The second half of the sentence I was agreeing that is not the case. One could argue that it is merely a bracket that when assembled forces the media endcap into the ADBV on the baseplate to provide &...

Dunno what happened, the first reply didn't post all my pics, & the original reply showed unsent. I apologize for any duplication, but all 5 pics are now posted. This last post has all my writing, too. Its too late now, but if I could I'd delete post #141 & #144

No one replied, but yes, sae-auto is the seller with the legit old school XG,s. Boxes & date codes are old. They only have certain sizes, though, slow movers, I imagine. I bought 12 each of the XG5 & XG3980. I forget which pics are which, but you get the idea, they are old school. Another...

Looking for a New Oil Filter

I concede, you are correct, sir, it does perform the job of applying pressure to the filter element keeping it seated on the adbv at the base. "Leaf spring" implies that it acts as the relief valve by allowing the element to unseat & allow oil to bypass, but it does not perform that function, it...

Looking for a New Oil Filter

Hey, @Carlostrece did you ever decide on a filter? Your Buick can use a Fram XG3980 (long). There is a seller on eBay "sae-auto" that has the old school XG, & they have that size. The "leaf spring" (I think its more of a bracket) seals to the filter housing with a fiber gasket, so no leakage...

Looking for the most experienced oil filter expert (or moderator) to answer one question.

Looks like my pictures cut off my last sentence. The rep said she thinks they are new stock, but she said I can "give it the old college try" & order them because of eBay's liberal return policy. I ordered them, they were new, sent them back as "did not match description", got refunded.

Yes, holes in center tube, not louvers, yes I can see the wire backing through them. Date codes are in the pictures, little hard to make out one of them.

    What makes Euro oils different?

First off, thanks for that detailed explanation, it helps clarify this issue. So what would be a reasonably safe drain interval with a race oil? How much would the higher detergents impact the higher level of AW chemistry? Can you counter it simply by adding more (AW) or would lower detergent...

    What makes Euro oils different?

So the whole ZDDP reduction is what brought on LSPI & lowering calcium is a way to mitigate that with lowered ZDDP levels. Lake didn’t mention that. Lol. That’s pretty much what Lake is saying on his channel, that lowered calcium is helping AW properties, & that SP is the best thing to come...

Did you look at the item description on Amazon? I quoted exactly what it says. It doesn’t give a specific size.

New source for premium guard filters CHEAP

Well, the price went up, they're $62.80 for a dozen so $5.2333 each. Also suspect is this in the item description: "Thread Size M16 x 1.5 or M18 x 1.5" So, which is it? M16 or M18?

So, to be clear, these are the OG Ultras with the holes in center tube & wire screen backing? I see on the box they are the 15,000 mile item. I went ahead & ordered the XG5 for the BB 402 as well, hope they are legit OG

What Does "Nominal" Micron Rating Mean?

My mistake, Donaldson does not show an absolute value. Thanks for that link, in one statement under the "Nominal" heading it was said: "For example, I was recently asked my opinion on an inline hydraulic filter labeled a 10-micron cellulose filter. Digging deeper, I found that the filter...
