how often change windshield wiper blades?

I replace them one at a time, whenever they start to [censored] me off (coming apart, not wiping correctly, etc). Consequently the driver's side blade gets changed more often. Probably every year or two on average.

    National Anthem

So those who do right are "true patriots". And those who do wrong are "unpatriotic". But they both wave the flag. They both get misty-eyed at the national anthem. They both recite the pledge. They both accuse anybody who disagrees with them of being unpatriotic. How is one to distinguish...

Well I agree with you on that point. I prefer it to be sung traditionally if at all- I'm not impressed with vocal gymnastics or random changes that a performer makes to try and impress people. But I really don't get why the song is played before big events at all. But like I alluded to...

Worrying about whether some song is sung 'right'. Waste of time. But then again I don't really 'get' patriotism. Maybe I lack that tribal bonding gene... I dunno.

Which engineering job should I take?

I don't have a strong preference in general between the aircraft industry and the construction equipment industry. Aircraft potentially pays more, but it's also less stable and I'm (far) less familiar with the industry. Construction equipment (particularly this place) is pretty stable, and I'm...

    Delayed return of pedal feel?

A poorly bled hydraulic clutch can 'bleed itself' over time. Just by working the system, bubbles can migrate all the way back up into the reservoir. I've had it happen a couple times. So I don't see why a brake system could't behave similarly. Maybe you had a bubble stuck in a line, valve, or...

Which engineering job should I take?

I am absolutely NOT kidding. If I agree to work for a company, I'll do so (and do it well) for as long as it suits me. If/when it no longer suits me, I'll go elsewhere. And if that point comes before I even show up on the first day... well that's how things panned out. Do you think I've signed...

Which engineering job should I take?

That's a good point, Pablo. Well, the latest update is that I got an offer today from the construction equipment place. They're paying significantly more than I expected, and the benefits are awesome (by my rather low diesel-mechanic standards). I'm not ruling out my other option(s) at this...

Which engineering job should I take?

Thanks everybody for the advice. There's a lot to chew on here. Honestly, the test engineering position feels like the easy option for me. I think I nearly HAVE that job at this point (I easily meet all their listed criteria, and the interview went very well), and I know I could do well at it...

Which engineering job should I take?

So I know that lots of people on this forum are in engineering and related fields. I'd be interested in some opinions on which of two jobs I should choose. A bit about my background: I'm 34 years old. I've worked as a diesel mechanic (diesel engines, trucks, tractors, construction equipment)...

    Can I pull 12V from a 24V system?

OEM's do this sort of thing all the time with heavy equipment and buses. Just use the jumper between the two batteries as a 12=volt source. For what you're doing, it won't hurt a thing. Now if you were to draw a high load (say, 20+ amps?) for hours at a time, then it MIGHT become an issue. The...

    Body parts?

I had to replace that big stupid plastic bumper cover thingy on the wife's 2004 Accord a while back. Most places in town wanted $350 for an unpainted one... then wanted to charge me $100+ to paint it. I found one on Ebay for $230 already painted. It's a cheap China knock-off (the same brand...

Replaced EGR valve and engine light still comes on

He's yanking your chain. Clearing the code accomplishes nothing. He's right that it COULD be a wiring problem. But more likely it's a clogged passage or maybe a cracked tube.
