    Shift Solenoids Cleaner additive?

Okay if you first watch the linked video above and then see the claim “It restores parts' original geometry and then coats them with new durable layer of ceramic-metal to protect against future wear” You’re saying the video doesn’t support that claim? From my point of view it does?

What Do You Think About Long-Term (20+ Years) Ownership Potential Of Modern Cars?

If your car didn’t sell at least 500k worldwide of that model and generation, take a pass. If the car is fun/cool/great/sentimental I recommend you buy two of them and expect one of the two will be inoperable 2 months of the year total as you hunt for parts.

    Shift Solenoids Cleaner additive?

I don't think that's what they are claiming, though? The claims are on page 4 and 5 of this pdf http://xado.info/download/KATALOG_eng2009.pdf Video here They aren't claiming this stuff will go onto/into any metal surface any time and under any circumstance. Load on wet clutch plates is...

    Shift Solenoids Cleaner additive?

I don’t remember XADO claiming that “revitalizing” wet clutches was a thing their product could do?

    Cylinder wall treatment for Porsche?

I’ve only used XADO in an automatic transmission (and it worked great), but it alleges to do what you’re looking for https://smile.amazon.com/XADO-Stage-Metal-Conditioner-Revitalizant/dp/B00IZD6TMC/

How do you get dealers to handle intermittent issue under warranty

This. Get it documented in writing on their service order letterhead during the warranty period. Then it is legally their problem whether the warranty ran out or not. I’ve done this twice myself and fixed both times even after the warranty was “up” because the problem happened while under warranty.

    20wt vs 30wt for leaks

Probably yes. Valvoline High Mileage oil downgrades leaks to seeps and stops seeps entirely in my experience, so first thing I’d try is to switch to a high mileage oil for that problem.

    Impala mystery whine killing me

This stuff here rescued an automatic transmission for me one time. https://www.amazon.com/XADO-Revitalizant-Conditioner-Transmission-Protectant/dp/B0079KRFAW?th=1&psc=1 Might be worth a try?

    2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7Hemi 155,000 miles

I’ve gotten rid of lifter noise with Archoil AR9100. I concur avoid Lucasoil. And switch to HM oil. IMO the Supertech HM is just fine if you don’t have oil seeps/leaks.

    Viscosity Choice for Inactive Vehicle

For a season or two just make sure it is clean moisture free oil before you store it (can’t go wrong with Mobil 1 extended for this IMO). Don’t overthink it with regards to weight. Fuel stabilizer and remove the battery. Maybe fogging oil for some types of motors if you think it will be stored...

Is it true that used up oil ruins seals and gaskets ?

Extra plasticizer might help. 1/3 can/dose of Liqui Moly Oil Saver or ATP AT-205. Normally I just do a run of Valvoline HM but there isn't any 229.5 approved high mileage oils. The 2002 SLK320 very recently got a very light seep at the valve cover gasket, and 1/3 can of Liqui Moly Oil Saver...

Ravenol RUP 5W40 with Liqui Moly Ceratec

Yeah, you're right. The Ravenol seems to be already golden. Gilding the lily so to speak. Here's the full quote because why not, internet. "To gild refined gold, to paint the lily, / To throw a perfume on the violet, / To smooth the ice, or add another hue / Unto the rainbow, or with...

Ravenol RUP 5W40 with Liqui Moly Ceratec

Just run it 1000 miles before your oil change. Then the hBN lasts 30k miles, but you lose the effect of the extra moly. Just run Archoil 9100 instead I guess in that scenario.

Is it true that used up oil ruins seals and gaskets ?

I actually do 15k miles OCI on my Mercedes (UO analysis was fine). You’ll find that I’ve changed the plugs once preventatively (even though a huge PITA on that car), change the air filter regularly and use quality ones, promptly fix rather than ignore any issues that could stress the motor (tiny...

Is it true that used up oil ruins seals and gaskets ?

It’s the dirt. The never changed air filters and unfixed vacuum leaks. Of course those people never change their oil either so carbon from stuck valve stem seals ends up joining that show. It does a number on gaskets. A course of Gumout Multi, air filter change, and a diet of Valvoline HM has...

    M1 HM vs VML

My experience with HM is Valvoline is the best and also the only one that claims to be fine to use in new engines. However like others are saying I only use and recommend HM oil if remediation is needed. See my sig - no HM oils but all 120k plus mileage on all combustion vehicles. But if you...

Ravenol RUP 5W40 with Liqui Moly Ceratec

@OVERKILL to expand on the marketing problem - it is confusing to sell an oil where you tell the customer to only run it like every fourth oil change (every 30k miles).

Ravenol RUP 5W40 with Liqui Moly Ceratec

Before I ever added hBN - specifically Archoil AR9100 ( nano potassium borate, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), tungsten disulfide )to my RX-8 I measured the engine braking. From engine braking in 3rd gear down a mild hill at the same speed and then swinging into a left turn, before Archoil AR9100...

Ravenol RUP 5W40 with Liqui Moly Ceratec

The reason these aren’t pre-added to motor oil is perhaps because they would add $3.20-$3.80 per quart in price and Walmart Supertech Synthetic is $2.80 per quart. So it may just be difficult to market it pre-added.
