glad to hear that things are stable. nothing worse than hearing the worst outcome possible in bike accidents. sucks to hear about the K75. First bike I learned on and its a solid performer. Father in law still has that bike and would nothing more than to see it leave his garage.

40wt seems to be the sweet spot with this engine. Kia actually specs high visc for high temps. I have used 20-40 was and it likes the heavy stuff. Probably go with whatever strong 40wt is most cost effective.

Those were Blackstone's comments. They suggest a 11k OCI. Once the DEFY is done I might go back to the 0w40. I'm interested to see what Rotella 5w40 might do in this application.

couldnt take the RACKET that the castrol was making. It was noisy from day one and only got worse with mileage. I yanked the oil (4200 miles) and left the FU filter in place and put Mobil 0w40 in. I didnt even care to try a UOA on the castrol because there is no way I would ever go back to it...

My 05 Kia sportage does the same thing. Not sure what the cause but the OUAs show no problems.

Castrol run is noisier than PU run....

Current run is 4 qts Castrol Edge FST and 1 qt PU(all 5w20) with Fram Ultra.

KH16 while having very good specs is a slightly sportier tire and generally does not return mileage as well as some of the other options here. If traction rating and temp grade and important though, it's a good choice. The same can be said for the Grid G019. It's considered a high performance...

Another Vegas member here...and one with a Kia/Hyundai product as well. For what ever reason Kia/Hyundai love to give A bunch of specs for oil weights. My sportage has three and I just chose to run the 5w20 in the cooler and the 5w30 in the summers.
