    Home heating fuel recommendations

Looking for recommendations as to which type of fuel would be best for a senior citizen for both ease and cost. Going to install an airtight wood stove to help heat the house. Should I choose wood, pellets, propane or something else as the fuel to be burned? Didn’t know where else to post...

    Rock Auto parts?

Just picked up my car from the shop and overheard two mechanics joking about a crank sensor that a customer had ordered from Rock Auto. The conversation was disparaging as the two mechanics were making comments about what a joke parts from Rock Auto are. As a long-time customer of Rock, I wonder...

Parking car outside for about 2.5 months

Three more items in addition to what you listed: Park the tires on some kind of vapor barrier, account for moisture inside the vehicle by using something like DampRid and fight rodents with something like FreshCab.

    Induction Range?

We have been cooking by induction for three years now and love it. Sure, it means you have to get induction compatible cookware but it is so worth it. The control and programming functions have eliminated most of our electric kitchen appliances as the induction function has replaced them. Go for it!

    Whining noise??

Hi all—my new to me 1996 Dodge B3500 Pleasureway motorhome makes a noise that I can't figure. 318/5.2 engine runs strong and smooth with 59K miles on the clock. Trans shifts smoothly including the overdrive. At about 1500 RPM or 50-55 mph you hear a "whine". If you take your foot off the...

Are people driving faster everywhere, or is it just Michigan?

Hey, we live in New Jersey or as I call it "the training grounds for future demolition derby failures"! I dare you to try to drive the speed limit anywhere in the state. We also travel extensively and find that, in general, people are in a hurry and want you out of their way no matter how fast...

    Fix it or trash it?

‘06 Taurus. Bought used two months ago. 157K miles. Looks and usually runs well. CEL keeps coming on for P304–misfire on cylinder four. Shop says it needs head gasket for about $1K in repairs. Paid $2K for the car. Won’t sell it with defect in good conscience. Should I put money in to this or...

    Anyone ever use RMI-25?

I have used this product for about 10 years now in both new and used vehicles. I can honestly say that it works! In the used vehicles, the "clean up" is visual as I can notice the difference after adding RMI25. It takes some time to work, but I can say that I think it does.

    Heavy oil=hotter temp?

Hi all-decided to see what all the heavy oil hype was about and tried it in my 1997 Dodge B2500 van which is a Roadtrek motorhome conversion with a 5.2 (318) engine. Mileage is about 140K and I have always run 10/30W as per specs. I use a Scanguage II to monitor performance. Decided to use 10/40...

    Dodge 318 oil?

Hi all-would like to poll the collective opinion on which oil to use in my Dodge 318. It is in a 1997 2500 Ram Van which has a motorhome conversion by Roadtrek. It currently has 133K miles and in the last 1500 miles, has not used any oil. I am leaning towards Maxlife 10/30 synthetic blend. What...

    Burning coolant

Hi--mine turned out to be a leak around the water pump shaft. Kept losing coolant--same scene as you described. Timing belt finally broke and mechanic found the leak which eventually deteriorated the timing belt. New belt and pump solved the problem.

    Temp gauge?

Hi all--running my '92 Toyota motorhome with a V-6 engine for the first time in warmer than usual weather. Noticed the temperature gauge seems to ride higher than I remember it doing. Usually registers about 1/3 of the way and now, when running at 65 mph and turning about 2500 rpm, it registers...

    Relocating to Charleston SC

Hi--as we are full-time RV travlers/dwellers, we can appreciate your wanting to escape. While Charleston is a great place, may we suggest you try it out first? There are many smaller towns/cities near the ocean in that area that would not be as busy and commercial as Charleston itself. Maybe if...

    O2 bolt removal

Hi all--suggestions needed as to how to remove the rusted nuts off the studs that hold the O2 sensor on my '92 Toyota truck. Have tried soaking in PB Blaster and Liquid Wrench but the very rusted condition has prevented my removing them so far. What do you suggest?

    What do you use?

Thanks for the advice on Regane. Guess I really want to know if I should continue trying to protect the top end by adding some sort of lubricant.

    What do you use?

Hi--my '92 Toyota motorhome with the V-6 was just serviced by the dealer. Claimed that the fuel system needed a good cleaning including injectors and throttle body. Most use is on the highway and I usually try to lube the top end with MMO or Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner. Either the dealer is just...

    Possible to clean a cat?

Hi all--'99 Escort 4-banger turns on the check engine light about every 100 miles. Not so trusted mechanic says my catalytic converter is beginning to clog. Is is possible to clean them by running solvent through? Bought some Cataclean ($) and have run three bottles through, but no change...
